Leica GM1 clone design by Seung-hun Han via Dicahub. Yep…just change the logo and charge $500 extra ;)

Over one year ago Leica stated that they will not make an MFT camera because their goal was to focus on ultimate image quality. But things have been changed at Leica and also their FF compact camera domain just got a strong competition from the SonyA7-A7r cameras. There is now a very surprising news:

According to Globalpost sources Panasonic and Leica made a new agreement where Panasonic will supply Leica with mirrorless and interchangeable mount cameras with retail prices of around 200,000 yen (1494 Euro or $2000). They will ship these cameras as early as next year!

Digicameinfo found the images of the soon the be announced Olympus Stylus 1. It’s going to be announced on October 29 and the price is 70,000 YEN (around 500 Euro or $700). Not that Yen prices are usually higher so $ and Euro price could be less. It has a 1:1,7 inch sensor and a 24-300mm zoom lens. Here is one more image:

Today we will not only see the light of the new super small Panasonic GM1. Lomo launched a teaser and says it will unveil a “mystery” product today. And they mention that it will have to do with Micro 4/3 too!

That little MFT camera is going to be a hell of ca camera. It has a superfast 1/16.000 shutter! I am not 100% sure yet but I think this can be achieve in pure electronic shutter mode like the one from the Nikon V1.

I also got some more specs not mentioned before: ISO 200-25.600, battery life is 230 pics, weight 204g with card and battery

The camera will be announced tomorrow (Oct 17) at around 4-5am London time.

I keep getting info about the shutter which is said to be new. But I still don’t know what the improvement is. We wills ee it tomorrow :)

In the meantime these are the size info of the GM1 (and on top you can see a real size comparison image). I got the info in inches and I converted them in millimeter.

Digicameinfo got his hands on the first Panasonic GM1 camera and 12-32mm lens images. Both will be announced on Thursday at around 5-6am London time. Price of the camera+lens kit is 699 Euro! The lens has an f/3.5-5.6 aperture. It reminds me the Fuji XF1 and I have to say it’s a damn good-looking camera!

This is a high quality camera, the GM1 has the GX7 sensor, a magnesium alloy and the lens is all metal! Yep, let’s get rid of all that plastic stuff :)
