(FT3) Panasonic 7-28mm wide angle lens coming???

We know around four lenses are expected to be shown by Panasonic at Photokina. One is the tele prime lens, another one is the long awaited 35-100mm X zoom. A source sent us some info about another wide angle zoom. The rumor hasn’t been confirmed by trusted sources but I hope they are reading this post and can confirm the validity of it :)

This rumor comes via one of my trusted sources. He knows for sure (so he says) that Panasonic has a 7-28mm prototype lens. But he doesn’t know yet if this is the wide angle zoom lens that is coming in one month from now right before the Photokina show. In Full Frame terms this is a 14-56mm lens. A quite weird range but perfect for wide angle shooter.

Now we have to find out the info about the fourth lens…

Some background stories about the E-M5, E-5 and new E-7 :)

Yesterday I wrote you about my E-7 release “troubles”. Two sources were so kind to explain me what’s going on with the E-7 development and release. It’s quite an interesting story! Here it is:

According to those sources, the E-7 has been in development for quite some time now, and got initially canceled early this year. Both claim that the “Sony sensor” and IBIS were originally developed for the E-7 and that the E-M5 is in fact a spin-off of this technology. Once the E-M5 was established as a product, it was decided to continue the introduction of the E-7 anyway since it was as nearly finished, and mostly needed testing. Neither source mentioned an introduction date, but suggested that ‘this year would be extremely likely because it is already being tested.

I guess the chance to see a new E-5 successor at Photokina is now getting bigger…

Some doubts about last week E-7 rumor…

Last week a good source told me that he “heard” that the E-7 will arrive in 2013 only. But I just got some small rumors from other sources saying that a slightly E-7 is coming and will bring some smaller upgrades (like same [shoplink 29074]E-M5[/shoplink] Sony sensor). It happens sometimes that sources close to manufacturers receive incorrect or just partially correct info. I am rechecking the rumor now.

This is just to say that you shouldn’t give up the hope. A new Four Thirds High End camera may be coming soon after all. But what I am 99% sure about is that it will not bring any earthshaking new feature…

P.S.: There are still some guys saying the E-M5 has not a Sony sensor. Just a reminder…Olympus President Sasa said the [shoplink 29074]Olympus E-M5[/shoplink] sensor has been made by Sony!!! (Source: Yahoo Japan).

Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 coming for Micro Four Thirds.

And here comes the next “Chinese” lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. Mitakon is ready to release the new 35mm f/0.95 lens. And you can already see a full test done on the E-mount version (on the NEX-7) at Xitek Forum (Translation here). The price of the lens should be around 600 Euro.

Mitakon isn’t a complete no name company. They even made lenses for the [shoplink 32660 ebay]Olympus OM (click here to see them on eBay)[/shoplink].

(FT3) Will the new E-PL5 bring us some “viewfinder” surprise???

A nice [shoplink 22264 ebay]Olympus RC[/shoplink] picture taken by Blurdotblog.com.

Olympus toke inspiration from the past PEN film cameras and from the OMD tradition to create the digital PEN and the digital OMD cameras. What’s still “Missing” is a classic “rangefinder” styled (not a real rangefinder!) digital camera. Something like a [shoplink 22264 ebay]35 RC (here on eBay)[/shoplink] in modern version. I know Olympus is working on such a kind of camera but I am not sure yet when this is coming. Now I got a news via one single good source that sent me this text: “Although the EP3 is set to be discontinued, updates to the EPL range should include some sort of viewfinder. Not sure of any further details yet.

Now if the rumor he sent me is correct this could mean that:
1) There is some sort of new external viewfinder for the E-PL range
2) There is an integrated viewfinder

I hope the source can soon unveil us more about the new E-PL5…meantime thanks for the message!!! At first glance you may would think that this is not going to happen, at least not on a E-PL named camera but at that point I remind you this: Eighth months ago the Russian website Onfoto (Click here) published a new interview with Toshiyuki Terada (Product Planning, Olympus Imaging Corporation, Japan). He said that “A built-in viewfinder is not exclusive for the OM-D line. Future PEN camera can have built-in viewfinder maintaining the current form factor.

So you see, everything is possible! I would be happy to see such a model! We would have three clearly differentiated m43 cameras from Olympus. A cheap E-M model. Ana advanced PEN with integrated viewfinder for those willing to spend a bit more. And than the [shoplink 29074]E-M5[/shoplink]. Makes sense to me!

E-PL5 with integrated EVF and E-M5 sensor. Would you consider to buy this?

(FT3) Four new m43 lenses from Panasonic?

Image on top shows the 35-100mm X zoom prototype lens.

Trusted sources told me that Panasonic will show many new lenses in September at Photokina. It’s still not confirmed but the total number could be of four lenses. One is the long awaited 35-100mm X lens. Than we will have an tele prime lens similar to the [shoplink 31284]Olympus 75mm f/1.8[/shoplink]. I also heard about a new wide angle zoom. The fourth lens specs are still unknown.

For the record, Olympus will also announce at least two new lenses. Makes a total of six lenses (minimum). But another very important question is when those lenses will be available. Hope these are not mostly prototypes that will than be available in 2013 only! May sources can also share me some info about that question. Thanks!
