GF6 pictures roundup. And do you like it?

As you know Techradar accidentally posted the full GF6 preview. I have been requested by them to remove the images and links to their site. But apparently they only asked me to do that because right now you can see the images at Google, Dpreview forum, PetaPixel, Cnet and Photorumors. And the full review is on google cache. Until they are there everyone will post them!

So, I guess now that you saw the images we can talk about the specs:
– 16 megapixel sensor
– New VENUS Engine
– WIFI and NFC
– tilting 180-degree touchscreen
– Price £449 (around $670) with the normal 14-42mm kit zoom.

Do you like the new GF6?

(FT3) Panasonic High End Compact camera to come within one month?

Strong competition for the Panasonic high end compact.

I still have no confirmation from trusted sources but I am getting multiple mails from anonymous sources saying that the “mysterious” new Panasonic camera that is coming end of April may be a High End compact camera with larger (FT?) sensor. Apparently some of the sources talked with Panasonic managers and they all said the GX2 is not coming yet. Anyway, until trusted sources cannot confirm this I cannot guarantee that this may be a tactic from Panasonic to spread false rumors :) test

Anyway, if the rumor is correct than Panasonic really has to reinvent the wheel to focus against the competition. Nikon just released the very compact  Nikon Coolpix A (specs here). Pentax the cheap Pentax MX-1 (Specs here). Sony has the tiny RX100 (specs here) and the best in the class almost cetrainly is the Fuji X100s (specs here).

ThePhoBlographer tested the latter and wrote: “In all honesty, this camera’s RAW file performance had me looking at my Olympus OMD EM5 and thinking to myself that its raw files just weren’t up to standard. Indeed, the Sony sensor inside the OMD far outperformed by the X100s. Granted, that is a Micro Four Thirds sensor, but it is one of the best in the mirrorless camera segment.”

As I told you, Panasonic has to reinvent the wheel to be successful in that segment!

(FT4) GF6 beats the GX1 in image quality. Has articulated LCD.

Another trusted source sent me a message with some more bits about the GF6:

1) He confirms it uses the same GX1 16 Megspixel sensor but the image quality is a tiny bit better because of the new more powerful imaging processor
2) The GF6 has an articulated screen just as the [shoplink 37637 ebay]NEX5R (here on eBay)[/shoplink] so it can flip over the top of the camera (and it makes the GF6 thicker than the GF5)
3) There is a mode dial
4) There is a zoom leveller close to the shutter button like on the new [shoplink 37639 ebay]NEX-3n (here on eBay)[/shoplink]

yesterday and anonympous source also said that the GX line is not discontinued. I am working on that rumor with trusted sources and will publish more about the GX future soon!

Be sure to be online on April 9th on 43rumors!!! Panasonic announcement at 6-7 am London time!

(FT4) New Panasonic GF6 replaces both, the GF5 and GX1? With 16 megapixel GX1 sensor.

According to one of the sources that saw the new Panasonic GF6 the camera uses the same 16 Megapixel sensor from the GX1. He also told me that he had the impression the camera may replaces both, the Panasonic GF5 and the GX1 compact models. That because the size and body quality has been improved and sits right in between the GF5 and GX1.

It may be that Panasonic decided to change the GX line dramatically…or even drop it?

(FT5) Panasonic GF6 and Panasonic G6 coming on April 9th (6-7am London time).

Eidtor’s note: I know it’s April fools day but this is a real rumor :)

According to multiple sources Panasonic will have an announcement next week on Tuesday April 9th at around 6-7 am London time. Be sure to be on 43rumors by that hour to follow the announcement with all news and reviews.

Panasonic will launch two new MFT cameras, the Panasonic GF6 and the Panasonic G6. Both cameras will not use any new kind of sensor (they will use sensors already seen in other Panasonic models). But all the rest will be improved like AF speed and Image processor power. And both will have a more high end look and feeling.
