(FT5) Panasonic LF1 has 1/1.7 inch sensor (like the LX7)

Share

What a surprise!

We were all expecting the camera to use a FT or APS-C sensor but the upcoming Panasonic high end compact camera with fixed lens and built-in viewfinder uses the same sensor size of the current Panasonic LX7! Apparently Panasonic preferred to focus on real pocketable size and high quality lens performance.

I ask sources if they could send me the lens specs of the new LF1 at 43rumors@gmail.com or anonymously via the contact form present on the right border of the website. Thanks!

Reminder: The G6 and LF1 will be annoucned in late April while the new E-P5 (and E-PL6?) will be announced in early May!

Rumors classification explained (FT= FourThirds):
FT1=1-20% chance the rumor is correct
FT2=21-40% chance the rumor is correct
FT3=41-60% chance the rumor is correct
FT4=61-80% chance the rumor is correct
FT5=81-99% chance the rumor is correct

Panasonic GH3 earns Gold Award at Dpreview.

Share

The DPreview team (Click here) posted the full Panasonic GH3 review. Their conclusion says that: “The GH3 offers the best video quality of any camera we’ve ever seen and does a pretty good job of making it available to a wide range of users. This footage is available without external recorders, making it ideal for in-the-field shooting as well as more formal rigged-up setups. It’s also a pretty handy stills camera with plenty of external controls, making it an impressively flexible package, overall.

A nice LF1 mockup made by Mike

43rumors reader Mike Bacchin made that nice LF1 rendering. Of course, expect the LF1 to be much different but I liked it so much that I wanted to share it with you readers :)

Thanks Mike!

P.S.: The G6 and the LF1 fixed lens (and with built-in EVF) compact camera will be announced soon (in 2 weeks from now).

(FT4) Panasonic has no plan to replace the 20mm and 14mm yet.

Share

A trusted source read your comments about the recent 20mm deal at Amazon US ($335 right now). He was so keen to send me a message to say that neither the 20mm nor the 14mm lens (also discounted) will be updated this year. And in general there will be “no big news” this year.

And the brand new 42.5mm f/1.2 and 150mm f/2.8 are still scheduled for a market release in early 2014 only although the announcement could be made (and preorders start) in late 2013.
