Reminder: End of next week Panasonic will announce the new LF1 and the G6 camera. I am not sure about the exact day yet…

Another trusted source shared some info about the LF1:
1) The LF1 has the same size as the LX7. And it looks more like the [shoplink 38087 ebay]Canon S90[/shoplink].
2) The EVF is tiny and not of a very high quality

A second source confirmed that the LF1 has also the same sensor size of the LX7 and a 7x zoom lens.

The G6 has a 16 megapixel sensor, same Gh2 video quality and the size is close to the current G5.

Chinese creativity: They may do a Sigma DP MFT mount :)

Share

I think Sigma Foveon sensors are the technology of the future and it’s only a matter of time until they solve the few remaining issues (like low quality at high ISO). That said a Chinese company promises right now that they can modify your [shoplink 38063 ebay]Sigma DP camera[/shoplink] in an interchangeable lens camera for every mount. On the picture you see the Leica M-mount version.

Just send in your DP camera at Taobab (translation here) and ask for the mount you want. The full modification costs you round $300.

I got this mail from a Chinese 43rumors reader (Thanks!):

“Jun GAO, a travel photographer in China, shared on his Weibo (twitter equiv. in China) today: A new Pen model from Olympus will be announced after Labor Day vacation (1st May). It looks quite good with all classic Pen elements. Technical spec will be superior to [shoplink 29074]EM5[/shoplink] with seamless integration of WiFi control capability.

He also mention he will share his photo work with this new Pen camera right after the announcement.

Mr. Gao appears to be partner photographer of Olympus in China. He actively promoted EM5 and shared quite some travel photography work using EM5. Follow his tweets here http://www.weibo.com/jamesgao75#_rnd1365743777678.”

(UPDATED) Sigma beats Olympus and makes fastest zoom for DSLR system.

The Four Thirds system offers two unique zooms with constant f/2.0 aperture. The [shoplink 25320 ebay]14-35mm[/shoplink] and the [shoplink 25119 ebay]35-100mm[/shoplink] lens. Neither Canon nor Nikon systems can offer a fast zoom like that. UPDATE: But today Sigma announced the new Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 constant aperture lens! It’s an APS-C lens and the price and mount is yet unkown. But I don’t think it will come for FT mount…

The official page can be seen and seen here at Sigma Photo website.

LX7 for $289 makes room for the new LF1.

Share

The LF1 is coming and the LX7 is creating the “price room” for the new camera. Today it sells for $289 only at Amazon (Click here to grab it). At such price plenty if people is buying it and that’s the reason why it is almost on top at the Overall Amazon camera sales ranking.

And the second super deal of the day is the first ever price drop on the Panasonic GH3 that now has a $100 discount at Amazon (Click here).

I still don’t know the price of the upcoming new LF1 and G6 cameras. But both will be announced by end of next week!
