This will be an exciting week with Panasonic scheduled to announce the new LF1 and G6 camera on Wednesday. But before that let me catch up with some readers mails:
Russ: “Here’s my latest vid, a promo for wood-fired hot tub delivered by bicycle! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q622LMXN9ic. Shot with a GH2, 20mm 1.7, 45mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.4 Nikkor.”
Matt: “I just thought this was kind of an interesting project that I shot with a hacked GH2 in 720 60 for slow mo. It really ended up quite beautiful (though the ladies definitely help with that) and color corrected really well. If it’s interesting at all, feel free to share it. The video is for a kickstarter project for the swimsuits. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn31fqzvq3U&sns=em”
Vincent: “I’ve shot a highway car race on the GH3. Maybe it’s interesting for the GH3 lovers! https://vimeo.com/64343246 FILM INFO: What happens when young people start to listen to music in their cars? Well.. THIS happens! You will probaly recognize yourself in this little short film. Young people tend to start racing when listening to music in their cars! In this film our main character starts to ‘visualize’ an entire racetrack on his way to work. TECHNICAL: This film was pre-produced in 2 days and shot in 1 one day. The driving part was pretty dangerous as our actor had to drive like an idiot on the highway and our camera-car almost had an accident. We took the same driving route for 5 times. Between these ’rounds’ we switched angles and put people inside the cars with shakey Canon 5D’s and 550d”
Marc: “I thought you might be interested in my work, all taken on an Olympus E-P2, I run a photo blog and recently I’ve been contributing to Untitled Cities, a New York based online magazine about all things urban. Anyway just in case you fancy dropping me into the next readers round ups…http://marcprovins.blogspot.co.uk/http://untappedcities.com/author/marcprovins/”
Lawrence: “Music Video in Hong Kong shot on the GH3 with a Voigtlander 17.5mm mainly. 50p .mov low bitrate mode. Rode Video Mic Pro. Thanks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZQBmHPAGV0“
Last week Metabones officially announced that the new MFT Speed Booster adapter release has been delayed til late 2013. But there could be a good news soon. The Chinese company Zhongyi Optical announced the cheap alternative of the Speed Booster named “Lens Turbo” The first adapters are made for the Sony E-mount system but the MFT version should follow soon. There are some differences with the popular Speed Boosters: 1) They have no electronic contacts (no AF and no automatic Aperture control). 2) To avoid patent disputes with Metabones the adapter has a different design and a reduction ration of 0.726 (Speed Booster is 0.71) 3) The Lens Turbo price is set at US$239 which is half the price of the Metabones Speed Boosters
Zhongyi Optical also makes the [shoplink 37365 ebay]Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 lens (here on eBay)[/shoplink]. But…I am not sure Metabones lawyers will stay calm on this…

Reminder: Here are the links to the lenses you can find on eBay and that will be supported by the Speed Booster MFT adapter:

[shoplink 37926 ebay]Contax C/Y lenses[/shoplink]
[shoplink 37927 ebay]Contarex lenses[/shoplink]

You really don’t see that very often, a MFT camera beating Canon and Nikon DSLR sales on the usually “conservative” and not so “Mirrorless friendly” US market. The $499 G5 kit sells so well that it even beats all Canon-Nikon DSLR topsellers (Click here to see the overall camera ranking)!
Panasonic will announce the new LF1 and G6 by end of next week (on Friday?). And according to Digicaminfo there may be a new version of the 14-140mm lens too. Also an anonymous source sent me that info two weeks ago. SO I guess this rumor has good chance to be correct. The same source told me that Panasonic also plans to “update” the 14-42mm PZ lens too!
