a short GH3 low light test

GH3 test after test is being posted on many websites. Now it’s time to see a short and not scientific GH3 versus E-M5 comparison at ePhotozine (Click here). There is also a short video test too. It’s really not possible yet to say what’s the difference between the two cameras. We will have to wait for Dpreview or DxOmark to learn more about it.

Panasonic GH3 to ship from November 30th (and new 100% crops from CNET).

Share

Our reader Joshua (Thanks!) noticed that Panasonic US store (Click here) just updated the GH3 page and added an estimated Ship Date of November 30. And the 35-100mm X lens will ship on October 31 (Click here to see the page).

And now back to new GH3 tests:
Cnet UK (Click here) posted a short GH3 preview. You can see some 100% crops and a video test. They write: “Head out with the GH3 and you can largely forget about light and sensitivity. When set to automatic ISO, my tests proved it could be trusted to select settings at least as high as ISO 3,200, with very little detrimental impact on the image. You have to look very closely to spot the grain, and it certainly doesn’t affect detail levels. Indeed, I would have no hesitation in shooting regularly at sensitivities above ISO 2,000 with the GH3.
Photo-i.co posted a video hands-on (Click here) and some image samples (Click here).

(FT4) new Blackmagic camera with full electronic support coming 2013?

Share

I got multiple mails from different sources saying that Black Magic is working on a new version of their Micro Four Thirds mount camera. Unlike the current model (available here on BHphoto) this one will have “active m43 mount” which means it supports electronic contacts for zoom, aperture and focus control. It will also have phantom XLR, larger capacity battery and an external battery mount. And that’s not all! There will be an improved RAW coded and a slightly different design.

The camera should be announced in early 2013!

Editor’s note: This is a rumor based on “non-facts”. There is no official news from Blackmagic. So go for the actual Blackmagic M43 model if you want it. Don’t base your shopping intention based on rumors. If the current model is good enough for you buy it. If you absolutely need to have electronic contacts and support than wait and let’s hope the rumor turns out to be true!

Rumors classification explained (FT= FourThirds):
FT1=1-20% chance the rumor is correct
FT2=21-40% chance the rumor is correct
FT3=41-60% chance the rumor is correct
FT4=61-80% chance the rumor is correct
FT5=81-99% chance the rumor is correct

First Olympus 15mm f/8.0 image samples!

Share

Finally you can see plenty of image samples taken with the strangest of all Micro Four Thirds lenses…the Olympus body cap lens.

Pekka Potka just posted the first B&W pictures of his dog and writes: “Aperture f/8 is far too dim to be usable (without flash) casually in a traditional P&S style whenever, if you expect normally sharp images. You really have to set your eye and mind to f/8 and work with the consequensies of it, namely blur.

Also Peter Norman (via mu43) posted a set of image samples on Flickr. This time in color!
