(FT5) Yep, Silver E-M1 and huge firmware update coming!

The official Olympus launch event will start on August 30.

I keep receiving confirmation from more and more sources that Olympus will indeed launch a new Silver E-M1 edition. And more important a quite HUGE(!) firmware update with many improvements and new features.

I have no reliable info about the kind of fw updates but an anonymous source once told me there is something “4k” related. But I am skeptical this will happen..and if it happens I suspect it’s a sort of “low-quality” 4K.

First review of the Kodak PixPro S-1 at Digitalversus.

The yet not in Store Kodak PixPro S-1 got reviewed for the first time at Digitalversus (Click here). The camera earns 3 points aout of five and the conclusion says:

It’s great to see Kodak/JK Imaging making headway so quickly and already releasing its first mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera—one that uses an already existing standard (Micro 4/3) rather than simply creating yet another mount. The S-1 is a basic camera, but it also doesn’t suffer any deal-breaking flaws, which is good news for a first release. It is in no way a rough draft, and the firm has a palpable desire to move onwards and upwards. Can’t wait to see what’s next! Until then, we have to say, Panasonic and Olympus’ competing models are the safer choice.

If the camera will ever hit the American and European is unclear. The camera main market will be China and few other Asian countries (at least for now).

Recently I got some mails from you saying there is an annoying pop up ad on the 43rumors mobile version. I discovered this kind of unauthorized ad is running through google Adsense banner. I contacted google and they asked me to help them to find out who is running that non approved ad on their system. So if you happen to see that ad you would help us to solve the problem by

1) take a screenshot from the popup ad

2) take a screenshot of the page where it redirects you and screenshot of the ads that are available on the 43rumors page after you close this pop-up.

3) send it to me at 43rumors@gmail.com.

I will send the material to Google and they will take down that advertiser.

Note: Google Adsense is usually a highly trustworthy advertising network. But they have to know who are the advertisers who break their rule in order to remove them. I currently don’t see that kind of advertising on my mobile version because the specific annoying ad only shows up in some countries and for certain specific target of people.

(FT4) Olympus first “superfast” prime MFT lens coming at Photokina?

The currently fastest autofocus lens for MFT is the Panasonic Nocticron 42,5mm f/1.2 you see here on top. Olympus didn’t bother for now to make any super fats f/1.4 or F/1.2 Micro Four Thirds lens. But this could change soon. According to one source Olympus will unveil a new roadmap (likely at photokina) with a “super-fast” prime lens on it. This lens will likely be introduced in 2015 (if Olympus doesn’t delay it later).

Let’s see…

Reminder: Olympus will bring the new E-PL7 on August 30. And likely also a Silver E-M1.
