The new Handevision 40mm 0.85 MFT lens gets a surprising positive feedback from Lensrentals!

Share

Most of us were convinced the new Handevision 40mm f/0.95 would just be an expensive gimmick. And so was Roger Cicala from Lensrentals. But when he tested the lens he had to change his mind about it:

In my expectations at the beginning of this article, I never expected this lens to do this well in the center. I didn’t even consider it a possibility. I can’t tell you that it’s worth $2,000 to you, but I can certainly say it’s not overpriced for what it offers. This is an excellent lens.

So this lens is not a gimmick, but it remains a very expensive piece of glass. Is that mini aperture advantage worth 2x the price of the Voigtlander Nokton?

The Handevision 40mm f/0.85 is in Stock at BHphoto (Click here)

For the record. These are the five f/o.95 lenses:
Nokton 25mm f/0.95 ([shoplink 36580 ebay]here one Bay[/shoplink]).
Nokton 17.5mm f/0.95 ([shoplink 36581 ebay]here one Bay[/shoplink]).
Nokton 42.5mm f/0.95 ([shoplink 47609 ebay]here one Bay[/shoplink]).
SLRmagic 50mm f/0.95 ([shoplink 29455 ebay]here one Bay[/shoplink]).
SLRmagic 25mm f/0.95 ([shoplink 47610 ebay]here one Bay[/shoplink]).

(FT5) First image of the new Olympus E-PL7!

Share

This is the first image of the soon to be announced Olympus E-PL7! As you know this has the [shoplink 47604 ebay]same Olympus E-M10 specs[/shoplink] but comes without the integrated viewfinder. It looks like it’s made of a very high quality. And it’s likely to be the only new PEN coming this year. Let’s see if this will help Olympus to revive the PEN sales…

Sony A7s vs GH4 vs C100 vs 5D Mark III (!!!) – Camera Shootout – Part III – Low Light / High ISO

Anonymous:Nice gh4 sports video https://vimeo.com/103151342 gh4 with Rokinon 10 2.8 used in this video

Lee:I own the Panasonic 35-100mm lens. A wonderful lens, but several people have been discussing a behavior of the lens OIS – micro jitters when shooting movies hand-held. There are several movies showing the behavior – including one I made showing a comparison of different Panny lenses. I was wondering if you might be able to draw attention to the issue from your contacts at Panasonic?

Ruban:I made a new video with GH4. https://vimeo.com/103210879

GV:Not rumor, rather a tip: Use the rubber eyecup from the Zacuto Z-Finder as an impromptu eyecup for the GH4. The inside diameter of the Zacuto eyecup will fit perfectly around the GH4 viewfinder and is flexible enough to stretch around the built-in existing eyecup. The only downside is that the LCD is now blocked from being moved. I got the idea to check my parts bin from (gh4crew.co.uk/?p=406). I took the cup off my Z-Finder and, presto, it worked!!!

Richard:People say that Olympus can’t make videocameras. Well they have for years, but they make high speed proffessional video cameras http://www.olympus-ims.com/en/hsv-products/ Btw. they use global electronic shutters
