(FT5) Panasonic GX7 name registered at Taiwan NCC government site.

There is one clear proof that the GX7 is about to come soon: The Taiwanese NCC agency registered the “DMC-GX7” camera. The camera will have all these great features I mentioned many times here on 43rumors. Now let’s hope Olympus will also deliver us an amazing new OMD MFT camera!

Sony sets a new miniaturization record. Creates a lens only camera!

As you know Panasonic will launch a new GX-XXX camera that is rumored to be extremely small. At the time I posted the rumor there were some comments making fun of it and saying the camera could be as small as the mount only. And guess what, Sony almost did it! According to SAR they will launch a new Lens-Camera soon. What is it? it’s a Lens with built-in sensor and no screen at all. You will have to sync the Lens-Camera with your mobile device via WiFi or NFC to see the Live View images. The Lens has a 1inch large sensor (same as the RX100MII).

Ok, this isn’t what Panasonic will do with their GX camera. But it shows how crazy the Miniaturization war has gone. Crazy…and funny :)

P.S.: You can see here a concept camera that shows how it works (not from Sony). Just watch from minute 1 towards:

(FT3) Panasonic compact camera announcement soon (no MFT).

There could be soon a compact camera announcement made by Panasonic. At least one new FZ camera will be launched. As long as I know no new MFT camera is coming The GX7 will be announced in late August (confirmed by Panasonic US!). And the Olympus cameras will arrive in mid September.

In the long term both Panasonci and Olympus will step out from the low end compact camera business and focus on the high end market. The new Panasonic LF1 is a nice camera but Panasonic still has to launch a bigger size sensor camera to be really competitve against Fuji and Sony. Also Olympus plans to launch a high end compact camera soon!

P.S.: Super E-Pm2 Gold Box deal at Amazon Germany (Click here).

(FT4) Olympus announcement scheduled for the second week of September

While the Panasonic GX7 specs are well known (announcement in late August) we are still in the dark when it comes to talk about the new Olympus cameras. For now we got rumors from anonymous soruces about a new entry level OMD and a new FT camera.

Today two trusted sources confirmed that Olympus will announce new products the second week of September. I hope they can soon share us some details about the new cameras and elnses too!

Rumored OMD entry level info:
– Same shape as the E-M5
– Same 16MP sensor
– Built.in EVF with lower resolution EVF (compared to the 2.3 from the OMD)
– 2 axes stabilization
– no weather sealing

(FT4) Price of the GX7 a little bit above $1,000

This is how the GX7 is likely going to look (Courtesy Dicahub).

It’s not a secret anymore that in late August Panasonic will announce the new GX7 with 18MP sensors, built-in titlable viewfinder and on sensor stabilization. And many here on 43rumors are excited to see the new cameras. But the camera will not be cheap. A trusted sources informed me that the price will be a little bit above $1,000 (or 1000 Euro). And that for the body only! There will be also a kit version with the zoom lens or with the new 20mm pancake.

The question is….

will you consider to buy it if priced a little bit above $1000-1000 Euro?

No surprise: Sigma will not make a Four Thirds mount 18-35mm f/1.8 lens. And no future lenses too?

An important store owner contacted me to tell me about a chat he had with a Sigma manager. The manager confirmed that there will be no Four Thirds version of the 18-35mm f/1.8 lens. And he also to him that from what he know there is no plan to adapt present and future DSLR lenses for the Four Thirds mount. That would be really bad news if confirmed. That said, even Olympus lately didn’t release any new FT lens. And with “lately” I mean something like 3-4 years :)

For now only Samyang released some new FT lenses. All can be found under different brand names on eBay: [shoplink 20647 ebay]Samyang [/shoplink], [shoplink 20684 ebay]Walimex [/shoplink], [shoplink 20649 ebay]Rokinon [/shoplink], [shoplink 20650 ebay]Opteka [/shoplink], [shoplink 20651 ebay]Falcon [/shoplink], [shoplink 20653 ebay]Vivitar [/shoplink] and[shoplink 20652 ebay]Bower [/shoplink].
