(FT5) HOT! Major Panasonic announcement in early July!

There is no vacation for a rumor website like me :( Top sources just unveiled that Panasonic will have a major product announcement in early July. They didn’t share the “stuff” list but I was told that there are many new cameras. I am pretty sure we will finally see the new Panasonic G5. I am not sure about the LX6 yet. And I don’t expect any new m43 lens. The G5 should use the same [shoplink 22077 ebay]G3[/shoplink] 16 Megapixel sensor. What will change is the shape of the camera.

P.S.: I am moving to my new house in the middle of nowhere on the Pyrenees on July 5th. Please Panasonic no announcement on that day! :)

For weeks now I am solving a series of minor issues on 43rumors and Mirrorlessrumors. I disabled the member messaging and member registration. The main reason is that I want to do a full checkup and upgrade that solves any spam or loading issue. If all works fine in two weeks 43rumors will load faster and be more spam-proof. Yesterday the website was offline for a coupel of hours. The main problem was MirrorlessRumors that had a broken comment system (now fixed).

Thanks for the patience! And now let’s go one with a real FT5 rumors…coming soon ;)

Panasonic LX5 now for $319. LX6 announcement close?

It is not a Micro Four Thirds camera but one of these cameras that many of us carry in their pocket. It now sell for $319 at Amazon (including the free $50 gift card). The new LX6 should have a larger sensor, maybe exactly as large as the Sony RX100 (Click here for specs and price).

Here is the question to you guys. If the LX6 has a fast zoom lens and large 1inch sensor…

Finally we can see the first real tests of that beast of an Olympus 75mm f/1.8 lens! Visit Four Thirds User, ePhotozine, Gabrielle Motola, Techradar, Photographyblog, Snappydiablog and ThisIsTanaka to see them! I will updated this post as soon as I find more links to tests.

FourThirdsUser writes: “Clearly, the 75mm lens beats the 45mm for sheer quality of background blur and bokeh, but the sharpness of in-focus areas at f/1.8 remains pretty much as good as the 45mm. You certainly don’t need to stop either lens down in order to get tack-sharp images.”

Egami found a new Panasonic patent showing a motorized zoom teleconverter. Don’t know if we will ever see this for real! First we need an adapter with built in phase detection af and optical Viewfinder to attach on m43 cameras like the [shoplink 31778 ebay]Leica Visoflex (here on eBay)[/shoplink]. :)

The 12-35mm X lens is finally in Stock in Asian stores (Amazon and [shoplink 31225 ebay]eBay[/shoplink]) and you can even one single lens in Stock at Amazon US (Click here). A 43rumor readers just posted some unboxing pics on Flickr (Click here).

There is a $50 discount (via gift card) on the LX5 at Amazon (Click here). The upcoming LX6 will arrive this summer and cost a lot more becuase of the rumored bigger sensor. Price should be around the $600 very close to the main compeitor which is the Sony RX100.
