Your (lens-) message in a bottle for Schneider Kreuznach!

Share

As you know Schneider is considering to develop a new 30mm f/1.4 and 60mm f/2.4 macro lens. These lenses should be unveiled in 2013. But is that what 43rumor readers do want? What would you want from Schneider?

Consider that:
1) Schneider will make prime lenses (not zooms) for now
2) The lenses will be expensive (1.000-1.5000 Euro)
3) They will high super high quality, autotofcus but no in body stabilization

Take into account the three points and let me know what lens the Germans should make to convince you to spend your money! Comment this post!

E-M5 climbing the rankings…

Share

Since Yesterday the Black E-M5 with 12-50mm is in Stock for the first time at Amazon US (Click here). And it’s already climbing the rankings at Amazon. Of course this has a very relative and pure indicative value but it’s somewhat nice to see an Olympus camera beating the 5DmarkIII and D800 (Click hee to see overall camera rankings). No PEN camera ever managed to get so much on top. WIll the GH3 do even better? :)

P.S.: E-M5 is on top at the mirrorless camera ranking.

(FT4) Newly(!) designed Sigma m43 lenses will be announced at Photokina.

Share

Good news folks! There is a 60-80% chance that Sigma will unveil new Micro Four Thirds lenses in September (for Photokina). And if the rumor I got are correct these lenses are completely designed for the Micro Four Thirds system only!

As you know the current 30mm and 19mm lenses cover the APS-C sensor because they are made for the NEX and NX system too. The lenses are very good (and cheap) but bigger than they could be if they would have been designed for the m43 system only.

The 30mm lens is in Stock at Amazon US (Click here), Amazon DE (Click here), Amazon UK (Click here), Amazon FR (Click here), Amazon JP (Click here) and Digitalrev (Click here).
The 19mm lens is in Stock at Amazon US (Click here), Amazon DE (Click here), Amazon UK (Click here), Amazon FR (Click here), Amazon JP (Click here) and Digitalrev (Click here).

Just a reminder. Sigma also offers a nice amount of Four Thirds lenses:

Reminder -> Rumors classification explained (FT= FourThirds):
FT1=1-20% chance the rumor is correct
FT2=21-40% chance the rumor is correct
FT3=41-60% chance the rumor is correct
FT4=61-80% chance the rumor is correct
FT5=81-99% chance the rumor is correct

Panasonic patent shows describes a new sensor tech.

Share

The guys from Egami found a new patent from Panasonic. Apparently Panasonic found a way to adjust the exposure time for every single row of pixels depending on the subject. So if for example you take a picture of a landscape where usually the sky is much brighter the sensor exposure time will be shorter on the upper lines than on the lower lines. Smart idea but as usual…just a patent for now!

a little bit of everything…(with the most boring video test ever)

Share

I was looking on vimeo and youtube for some nice new video samples to post within my next “a little bit of everything” article. And I found this, the most boring test video (on the E-M5) ever made. I haven’t learned anything from the video and you?

EU Nokton deal:
We Europeans can’t enjoy many deals like in US but Le Petit Boutique on [shoplink 31690 ebay]eBay France (Click here)[/shoplink] is selling the Nokton 17-5mm f/0.95 with a huge 160 Euro discount…for Europeans only :)

GF5 and 14-24mm X lens reviews:
Full Panasonic GF5 review at ePhotozine: “The Panasonic Lumix GF5 is a worthwhile upgrade, resolving a number of our original complaints about the GF3, and the addition of improved effects, menus systems, and built in scene modes with guides for beginners are a useful addition for beginners. The screen looks great and the camera feels better than ever with an improved rubber grip and body styling. The GF5 is certainly an appealing camera, particularly with improved noise performance in comparison to the predecessor

Lenstip posted the full 14-42mm X lens review: “The results of our test show that, when it comes to the optics, we deal here with a typical ‘kit’ lens which doesn’t stand out against the rest of contemporary devices of this type which are added at almost no charge to the reflex and mirrorless cameras of its rivals. The quality is something that makes the Panasonic stick out, though. It is a device produced in Japan, made of solid components with a metal mount.
