First Panasonic GF6 review at ePhotozine. G6 pricing in Europe.

Share

The new Panasonic GF6 just got his first review thanks to ePhotozine (Click here): “The Panasonic Lumix GF6 offers almost everything you could want from a mirrorless camera, with the most likely complaint about it likely to be the lack of flash hot-shoe, making it less appealing to the more serious photographer

Panasonic Germany listed the G6 and relative pricing. I still haven’t found preorder options in Europe. Feel fre to comment this post with store links if you find them!

P.S.: Also in Europe the E-P3 got some price drop. For exmaple you can find new bodies with kit lens for 499 in [shoplink 38455 ebay]Black (eBay Germany)[/shoplink] and [shoplink 38454 ebay]Silver (eBay Germany)[/shoplink].

(FT5) Body only and 17mm kit to ship in June (no 14-42mm kit yet).

Share

I got a confirmation from multiple sources that the new Olympus E-P5 will ship in June. And there is also a surprise. At the beginning Olympus will offer the body only and the 17mm kit version only! There will be no 14-42mm kit yet (it may come later).

There is still a big “???” on the final price. Early rumors I got from an anonymous source said the price will be around $1000 with kit lens. If you consider that the actual (discounted) price for the 17mm lens is $449 (here at Amazon) this sounds a bit too good to be true. I expect the price to higher /the $1,000 price may be refered to a future 14-42mm kit option). I hope sources are reading this and may help me to gather this info. Thanks!

Reminder: Announcement next week on Friday May 10 at 6am London time.

“E-M5 sensor” + lens for $429.

Share

I know you are all focused on the new E-P5 launch but there is a camera that uses exactly the same sensor form the E-M5 and E-P5 and sells for $429 with lens(!). It’s the Olympus E-PM2 at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here). If you click on these links you will also notice that the kit version is actually cheaper than the body only! That’s the best quality-price rate you can get right now on a Micro Four Thirds camera. Sorry dear European colluegues, we still have to pay a bit less than 500 Euro to grab it (prices here on Slidoo eBay).

If you don’t care about getting the latest sensor generation than you may check out the E-P3 with kit lens thats ells for $379 at Amazon (Click here).

Mobile01 posted this E-P5 pictures. As you see the camera comes in Black, Silver and White. And of course the 17mm, 45mm and 75mm Black lens rumor I posted last week is correct. You can see the Black 17mm lens on these pics. Click on the thumbnails to see the large size image:

(FT5) More E-P5 specs (and improved 5 axis stabilization)

Share

A source told me that the new E-P5 has an improved 5 axis stabilization. Compared to the E-M5 this means that it has a new IS-Auto mode that automatically detects the camera’s movements.
And here are some more E-P5 specs:

– 16 Megapixel sensor (same as E-M5)
– TruePic VI image processing engine
– improved AF (compared to E-M5)
– improved 5 axis stabilization
– 5fps
– focus peaking
– Shutter 1/8000 sec
– built-in WiFi
– 1.04 million dot tilting touchscreen LCD (no more OLED!).

I am still not sure about the right announcement date. It could be May 9 or May 10. Would be cool if sources could send me a message to share the exact announcement date and hour and timezone. Thanks!

Rumor forecast: I am also working to collect rumors on the new Olympus and Panasonic cameras that will be announced in late August- early September. Will post first rumors after the E-P5 announcement. Stay tuned!
