And now to the latest E-M1 review written by CameraLabs (Click here). As usual it’s a very long, detailed and interesting review. But I think that single part says it all:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the Olympus OMD EM1 is a triumph, a highly satisfying camera that I can highly recommend to anyone who wants semi-pro performance and handling without the heft of a traditional DSLR. If you’re looking for a high-performance mirrorless camera or DSLR, the EM1 should be high on your shortlist.
There is nothing to add :)

(FT4) New Olympus compact zoom similar in size and performance like the Panasonic.

Also Olympus will follow Panasonic lens miniaturization route and along the E-M10 and 25mm f/1.8 lens they will also launch a very compact zoom. I have been told size and image quality are very close to the Panasonic. One source said that the major difference is that the new Olympus zoom has a built-in protection cap just like the lens used by the Olympus Stylus 1.
No info about exact focal length and price yet. But I hope I will have them soon :)

Olympus leads the mirrorless market in Japan. But Panasonic share drops.

BCNranking posted the market share numbers for 2013. As you can see from the graph on top Olympus still leads the mirrorless market although they lost 0.9% share compared to the previous year. Sony is now pretty close thanks to their A7-A7r cameras while Panasonic share dropped 9%!!!
I am curious to see what Panasonic will do to recover…

(FT5) Olympus E-M10 has a smaller body than the E-M5 and built-in flash!

The new E-M10 is said to be closer to the E-Pl5 in terms of body size (Image courtesy: Camerasize).
Two trusted sources added more info on the soon to be announced new OMD E-M10 camera. The camera is said to be smaller than the E-M5. It’s a sort of E-PL sized body with EVF on top. And unlike the other OMD models this one has a built-in Flash!
In summary these are the specs so far for the entry level OMD:
– 16MP sensor (same as E-M5 and with no PDAF)
– True Pic VII processor (same as E-M1)
– Very small body
– integrated flash
– 3 axis stabilization
– comes with new compact zoom as kit lens
I guess the failure or success will now be determined merely by the price of the camera. This sounds ike a nice low budget camera. So let it be really low budget :)
P.S.: There will be also a new 25mm f/1.8 lens.
