One of our readers sent us follwoing message:
It seems that Panasonic G2 doesn’t bother is battery genuine or not!
It accepts anything you feed into battery compartment, any object that supplies proper voltage and has proper size..
Ordinary serial G2 specimen just bought in ordinary Russian shop was used for tests. It takes without questions three types of cheap China replace batteries, taken from three different sources. All three batteries were rejected by G1 with v.1.5.firmware.
It’s really strange that none of numerous pre-reviews ever mentioned this most useful feature of G2

One moe thing: New G2 image smaples have been posted at Whatdigitalcamera, Fotopolis and Pixinfo.

1) The NEX images do have slightly less noise than the smaller sensored Olympus E-PL1 but the images do not have much more detail

Panasonic LX4 with more zoom (and much more news on Quesabesde)

Share

Quesabesde had the chance to visit the Panasonic factories in Japan (click here to read the google english translation). Quesabesde is sure that soon Panasonic will release the Panasonic LX3 successor (the LX4?) which will probably have more wider zoom range. Panasonic also denied that they are preparing a camera with larger sensor (or with a square sensor). But we can’t expect Panasonic to tell us the truth about that :)

Thanks Quesabesde for allowing us to copy one of their pictures!

(FT3) Panasonic to reduce shutter lag in their future mirrorless cameras

Share

The spanish website DSLRmagazine (which is well known for their very good interviews to Panasonic and Olympus) has posted a new Panasonic rumor (text translated via  google english translation):
We can confirm, from knowledgeable sources, that next Christmas will offer an interesting Panasonic technological advances aimed at enhancing the speed of operation of some models of its cameras, and more particularly those of the MicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirds range.
The aforementioned technological solution would reduce the delay in the firing of which suffer these models, both Panasonic and Olympus, Samsung and Sony, and may be related more to advances in processing and buffer with the coveted completely electronic shutter that operate in their own time through the captor.
As is known, the system “Live-View” itself, typical of Micro Four Thirds system, as well as followers of the same, whether Samsung or Sony, it makes the shutter has to be open so that the sensor is active and send the image frame, but closed prior to firing, to make accurate exposure seguido. Ello act involves not only the delay and said only a noise level higher than desirable in a camera that-after all, is not reflex.
On the other hand, is not entirely clear that this progress can not be reached to apply to another model from Panasonic, such as, for example, the presumed successor to the LX3 … or any other related system.
Most likely, this new development or progression can be released at Photokina, that is after all one step away from Christmas
.”

Thanks DSLRmagazine!

First forum rumors about the next Olympus Fourthirds camera…

Share

A dpreview forum user just wrote this:

Just got back from PMA Melbourne. Spoke to 2 olympus reps.
Both confirmed olympus commitment to DSLR and Lens production.

One rep told me there is a pro spec DSLR on the way. It will use the PEN TruePic V
“and a few other surprises that will make it quite a remarkable camera”
I was told an announcement is due at photokina 2010.

I went to the show looking for an oly alternative, but after some discussion and a play with the super pro lens line up, im happy to stick with olympus. (Cause i didnt want to change systems anyway,)

Normally we don’t post rumors like this but in that case our sources do confirm that the informations are correct. As we told you on 43urmors the camera will have some “modular tuch” :)
