(FT4) Next Olympus MicroFourThirds camera with built-in EVF. Olympus E-5 at Photokina!

Share

In these days Olympus managers are continually releasing new interviews. And the last Interview they gave on the spanish dslrmagazine is extremely interesting!

In summary:
– Olympus is working on a m4/3 camera with built-in EVF! They say “the technology is already here…
– Asked if the E-5 will come at Photokina the answer is “Not only possible, but highly possible.
– Three more MicroFourThirds lenses are to come within 12 months. No info were given about FourThirds lenses
– Will there be a new MicroFourThirds player? “We can not give information about it, but it is currently being carried out negotiations about it.

The Spanish magazine speculates about the next MFT beeing in fact the E-5. I do not believe the E-5 will be a MicroFourThirds camera but it will certainly be a very nice upgrade from the E-3!

There is much more information so click here to read the google english translation of the interview.

Olympus about the Four Thirds future “you’ll have to trust us on that”.

Share

Toshiyuki Terada from Olympus gave a new interview on fourthirds-user.com.

Key points:
– “it’s not difficult to work out that much of this work would be focused on the higher end of the E-System product line
– “Many technological developments are common to both” (FourThirds and MicroFourThirds)
– There is “a difference in the expectations of Micro Four Thirds by Olympus compared to Panasonic
– “future Olympus DSLRs would feature HD video, and he understands the aspiration for higher resolution LCD screens and improved autofocus performance

Thanks FourThirdfs-user.com for publishing such an interesting Interview!

(FT3) Panasonic LVF1 viewfinder replacement soon?

Share

Yesterday we noticed a price drop on the Panasonic DMW-LVF1 External Live Viewfinder for the Panasonic GF1. This made us suspicious. We asked around a little bit and that is what we got:

According to infos we received from Japan the Panasonic DMW-LVF1 is going to be replaced!

ANother japanese source sent us following t0xte:
Sales clerks at several major retailers around Tokyo (Bic Camera, Yodobashi Camera) have confirmed that the LVF1 is no longer being manufactured by Panasonic, and most places are either out of stock or “on order” with no estimated arrivals.
