“As a replacement model for the hotselling [shoplink 14828]GF1[/shoplink], the GF2 has reduced approx 19% of its volume and reduced approx 7% of its weight, becoming the world’s lightest interchangeable lens body. Additionally with this size advantage, the GF2 uses a 12MP Live MOS Sensor, allowing for a 1920×1080 at 60i(NTSC) or 50i(PAL) video using AVCHD codec. With the use of a new bounce flash system, it prevents vignetting from the photos taken with flash at a close distance. Panasonic’s “My Colours and 460K 3” LCD, allows for better photography simulation/ideas, bringing a better user viewing experience.”

In summary:

– 1080i (60i/50i)
– Built-in flash

Thanks to a french 43rumors reader we can show you the very first picture of the Panasonic GF2!!! The picture shows the advertising at “Salon de la Photo” in Paris (the event starts tomorrow). The GF2 looks like the [shoplink 17288]Panasonic LX5[/shoplink]! And with the new [shoplink 16258]Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 lens[/shoplink] lens it is the smallest mirrorless kit on earth! It has 12 megapixel (The same [shoplink 14834]G2[/shoplink] sensor), records FullHD, a complete new imaging processor, touchscreen and announcement is expected at 6am London time (November 4th). P.S.: Received many mails from people asking me if the GF2 has a Fuji X100 or so called [shoplink 17271]”rangefinder style”[/shoplink]. The answer is pretty obvious…it’s “No”!

Those who tested the camera said the GF2 is a very easy to use camera. The usability of the GF2 is much better than the current [shoplink 17230]Sony NEX[/shoplink] cameras (we compare the GF2 with the NEX because of the similar size). There are no big design changes (it’s thinner and less high and has a different button layout than the [shoplink 14828]GF1[/shoplink]). I guess Panasonic goal was to create a minimalistic, easy to use, tiny and cheap Micro Four Thirds camera to appeal beginners (maybe the GF2 is the reason behind the recent Panasonic LX5 price drops on Amazon).

We have not many specs now. We know it has the same G2 sensor (12 Megapixel) and faster AF.
P.S.: Touchscreen (not confirmed yet but highly probable).
