Message from a 43rumors reader:
I wanted to let you know about something that you and possibly some m 4/3 readers might like to know about. I have a good friend, Sonya Louise Barham, who is embarking on a grand adventure. She has sold all of her belongings and is soon leaving on at least a 2 year trip around the world (with her trusty [shoplink 16885]Olympus E-P1[/shoplink]) and only the vaguest of itineraries. She has a blog where we can all follow along vicariously with her travels and also a kickstarter page where many people have helped to support the project. Two weekends from now I am having an event at my gallery here in Los Angeles where some of her prints will be on display and the proceeds from which will go to her kickstarter. We can all follow along at http://sonyalouise.tumblr.com/ and maybe some of the m 4/3 readers can make friends with her and possibly meet up with her along her travels! I’ve always admired her eye for photography and she has a wonderful writing style which are all evident on her blog. She’s been recently focused on gathering donations for the project as she is coming to the end of her kickstarter goal but If you read back her usual writings are of much more entertaining. She has entitled the endeavor, “A Search for Heartbreaking Beauty” and I have no doubt she will find it and share it with us all. Anyhow, maybe you can pass this along!
Thanks,
Robert

Olympus XZ-1 reviews, in Stock status and contest!

Share

Infosyncworld tested the new [shoplink 19904]Olympus XZ-1[/shoplink]: “The Olympus XZ-1 matched Canon’s best fixed lens warriors when it came to still image quality, and it proved itself a worthy tool to have in the field. It’s the Mini Me of PEN Land, and we welcome it with open arms.

There is a hands-on report at Cameraguide: “The XZ-1 also proved itself to be generally more satisfying to use than the competition. At this point we’ve tested all the major players in the advanced compact sector and we can say with some confidence that the XZ-1 was more enjoyable and more fun to use than all of them.

Photography Blog and Olympus are giving away a fantastic Olympus XZ-1 premium compact camera, worth £399.99 / $499.99.

The XZ-1 is in Stock almost everywhere! Click those direct links to check price and availability: [shopcountry 19904]

Panasonic GF2 tested by DPreview!

Share
[shoplink 17361][/shoplink] Dpreview (Click here) posted the new Panasonic GF2 review! The camera gets a 70% overall score. For comparison: The Olympus E-PL2 (Click here to read that review) got a 71% score. The main reason for the slight edge of the E-PL2 is: “likeable and convenient though we found the [shoplink 17361]GF2[/shoplink], it’s up against the [shoplink 18844]Olympus E-PL2[/shoplink] which produces consistently better JPEG images from essentially the same sensor

New reviews -> GF2, E-PL2, E-5, LX5

[shoplink 17163][/shoplink]

There are tons of new reviews! So take a break from what you are doing right now because this is going to be very long reading!

DCresource just posted the full Olympus E-PL2 review: “Even with a few annoyances (mostly minor, or typical for a camera in this class), the Olympus E-PL2 is a well-designed interchangeable lens that’ll appeal to beginners and enthusiasts. It’s packed with easy-to-use features, tons of manual controls, HD movie recording with decent continuous AF, and lots of optional accessories.” There is another E-Pl2 at the japanes (or chinese? or korean) DC.fever website
Check the E-PL2 price and availability at [shopcountry 18844].

Olympus E-5 Review at Digital photography school: “For me, this is an excellent camera for an enthusiast or a semi pro. Fully blown pro photographers will probably turn up their noses at the feature list. But hey! Look at the price.
Check the E-5 price and availability at [shopcountry 17163].

There is three part Panasonic GF2 review at Hybridcams…in french! (onetwothree)
Check the GF2 price and availability at [shopcountry 17361].

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 : le test (Forum Olympus France).

Olympus 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II M.Zuiko Digital tested at SLRgear: “The Olympus 14-42mm ƒ/3.5-5.6 II M.Zuiko fared very well in our tests, showing that Olympus lens designers have not been idle. The complete redesign of the lens has proven very effective, though if you’ve been happy with your version I lens, you probably don’t need to rush out and get the new version.
