A couple of people who tested the new OM-3 told me this:

Tester 1:

Hello Andrea, I will place my order of the brand new Om-3! 😉 Immediately after the presentation on February 6th. The beautiful Om-3 contains all the last and the best technology currently available from Om System. But technology and high construction quality have a price, it is better to accept it (so start putting some money aside).

Tester 2:

Besides the looking, really nothing get exciting.

Tester 3:

Yeah, its bigger than the OM-5 but it still feels light.. What’s surprising are the colors and filters…like them more than the Fuji!

Tester 4:

It has some minor new features over the OM-1II…so there are improvements especially in autofocus.

A source sent me the following info. But I have NOT been able to confirm this. So there is still a chance this might be wrong info. He wrote:

I saw the new camera. it is metal. same sensor and processor as this camera, just use a different coating on the cmos to prevent dust， a little bit improvement. it has a front dial as the penf to adjust the color saturation.
Overall made quality just like penf . top dials feel good and solid. om-1ii viewfinder and real lcd panel.
besides the looking, really nothing get exciting.

He also wrote about new lenses:

new 17mm f1.8 and 25mm they only update the looks and structure for anti dust and splash.
the old 100-400 lens now also gets update to 5 Axis lens sync IS.

Sounds all reasonable but still it has to be taken with a grain of salt. Certainly would have hoped the sensor would be completely new…but hey…that rumor might be wrong on that part :)

In the past hours one source claimed the OM-3 will be announced on Feb 6 and another one claims it will be announced on Feb 15.I think they got confused by the fact that OM Digitla plans different events on different days. In Australia you have an event on Feb 15 but in the UK the event is on Feb 12 (Source Clifton camera).

Also OM Ambassador David Smith will have an event to “try the latest OM System cameras and lenses“:
