Lots of creators are all in Tokyo for a big Panasonic event…new Lidar autofocus related announcement?

Two 43rumors readers (Thanks!) sent me more info about the event. Really an impressive number of influencer is in Tokyo.

For example, Jon Simo, Sam Holland, Richard Wong, and even Chris Hau that just recently said that he will not use Lumix anymore (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4kZS7E2G8I&ab_channel=ChrisHau) unless there is Phase AF detect … and now he’s in Tokyo with Lumix in hands?

This might be somehow related to the new Panasonic-DJI Lidar autofocusing tech?

Lots of youtubers are in Tokyo now…Panasonic announcement soon?

One of our readers noticed this:

Damien Bernal and French Reviewers are in Tokyo right now.
Chris and Jordan from Dpreview seem to be at the same place too.

On Damiens story it looks like I can see Lumix ambassador Sean (his youtube channel is here) and Richard Wong (his youtube channel here). So this might be a Panasonic announcement?

RUMOR: Panasonic and DJI jointly testing a new LIDAR based focusing method?

CameraBeta reports:

It looks like Panasonic and DJI are jointly testing a new focusing method. The new system is said to utilize the LiDAR focus technology released with the Ronin 4D. If this technology can be introduced to Panasonic’s mirrorless camera, we can expect a significant improvement in video shooting. It is currently undergoing in-house testing and will be available in the near future.

Panasonic MFT and S cameras are yet not matching the performance of companies lie Sony. But if this partnership is real, than we might get a new MFT camera with superb AF soon!

Asobinet spotted the design of two new Sigma MFT lenses:

Example 1

  • Focal length: 20.59
  • F-value: 1.45
  • Angle of view: 57.90
  • Image height: 11.15
