Androidlad posted  this supposed new 41 Megapixel 8K Micro Four Thirds sensor from Sony. I  checked the current Sony sensor database and cannot find that entry.Therefore I don’t know yet  if this is a the real deal. I surely hope it is because it’s a stunning sensor!

Yes I know this sensor application is marked within the “Surveillance”.But that’s something we saw with the GH5s sensor too which is also considered as “Surveillance” sensor :)

This new Sony sensor has a 41MP, records 8K, 120fps…an idea sensor for a future GH6 or E-M1III !!!

Panasonic promised to give us an 8K ready camera by 2022. And I guess there is a good chance to see a new 8K GH6 in late 2020 already…

I now know for sure that tomorrow Panasonic will have a product announcement  tomorrow. But it will  NOT be for new MFT gear. They will announce the full S1H specs and  maybe a new updated lens roadmap.

From the latest I heard it seems to be likely that Olympus E-M5III will not be announced in September. It’s very likely we will see it in October. A bit unusual because September is the usual time we see new camera announcements. But With Canon, Sony and Fuji all having announcements in September it’s likely that Olympus wanted to avoid to be stuck in the crowded press time :)

E-M5III rumor summary:
Announcement in October (90% certain)
Same E-M1II sensor with 121 cross-type phase detection pixels. (60% certain)
New processing engine (90% certain)
Lighter, more plasticky but still weather sealed body (60% certain)
Will have USB charging (90% certain)
Same BLS-50 battery of the PEN and E-M10 camera series (60% certain)

I just got word that Panasonic has a press event on August 14. Not sure yet if it’s for MFT. From what I heard this might be for L-mount gear only…

There is one rumored MFT camera that could be announced: A new GX entry level model for the US market? But I have no solid FT5 rumor on this yet….

1) The E-M5III will have USB charging
2) The new Olympus 150-400mm PRO lens pricing will be announced in Winter time

Olympus has patented a new 400mm f/4.0 MFT lens design. S far we don’t know if and when Olympus will launch such a lens…would you like to get it?
