(UPDATED) POLL started! What new MFT lenses do you need?

UPDATE: Last chance to vote your preferred leses. Tomorrow I will close the poll.

Almost 250 43rumors readers sent me a wishlist of future Micro Four Thirds lenses. I grouped them and now you can vote the lens you like!

A few rules:
1) You can vote a maximum of 10 lenses. You can vote one time only (your IP-address will be stored).
2) Don’t be worried if you can’t find the exact lens you were looking for. This is a pure indicative poll.
3) OIS = Image stabilization
4) I didn’t add the 25mm f/1.4 lens because it is already coming from Panasonic
5) Feel free to contact me at any time if you want me to remove or change your vote.

IMPORTANT: I will send the poll results to Panasonic and Olympus. So your vote matters!

(FT2) Is that a real or fake Ricoh Micro Four Thirds module picture?

An anonymous source (Thanks!) just sent me the following picture. That’s why I ask you (and my sources) if that picture is real or fake!
The Ricoh GXR system was announced 13 months ago and since there we have had many rumors about a possible Ricoh Micro Four Thirds module release.

UPDATE: The source is a user that wrote a comment on fotointern.ch. He says that this picture “was shown on a developer meeting last month“.

P.S.: The Ricoh GXR system is made by a main body and many separated moduls ([shoplink 16935]Click here to see them on eBay[/shoplink])

Would such a module make the GXR system more attractive for you?

(UPDATED) Reworked Sigma mirrorless camera. (Soon with Micro Four Thirds mount?)

(Article updated)
A chinese photographer reworked the Sigma DP1/2, he removed the fixed lens to add a lens mount (The picture shows the Sigma with the [shoplink 18092 ebay]Leica Elmarit f/4 90mm[/shoplink]). According to the author:
1. He can put a M4/3 mount on it, then you can use mount adapter to convert to other mounts.
2. The author had tested drive an additional mechanical shutter to replace the original electronical one. He is ording parts from a Japanese factory.
3. The author vaguly mentioned possibility to drive AF lens, I don’t know if he/she had done any prototype or it is just doable.

Interesting!

(FT4) Olympus will go “PRO” within the first half of 2011!

I received quite a few emails from trusted and new anonymous sources. Finally something is happening around Olympus ;)
According to my trusted sources Olympus will release a few new “PRO” Micro Four Thirds product within the first half of 2011. They confirmed that between January and March Olympus will announce the three new pancakes you can see on the roadmap on top. One Fisheye lens, a 12mm(?) and the 50mm pancake. I hope to get some detail about those lenses (and maybe other lenses) as soon as possible. After that Olympus will release the first Micro Four Thirds “PRO” camera with TruepicV+ engine, new Panasonic sensor, Built-in Viewfinder and weatherproof body. I don’t know yet if the camera has a Rangefinder design (à-la Fuji X100 and [shoplink 17020]Panasonic DMC-LC1[/shoplink]) or DSLR design (à-la [shoplink 16254]Panasonic GH2[/shoplink]). The camera should be in store by Quarter 2 (between April and June). I am are currently “collecting” info about the camera so if you want to help me feel free to contact me at 43rumors@gmail.com or use the contact form on the right sidebar. I really need every little help you can give me to avoid mistakes and confirm the other rumors I received. Thanks!

There is one more unconfirmed rumor: (FT3) According to two new sources the PRO camera should be announced by late January-early February and be in Stock bye end of Quarter 2. The camera itself could be named “E-PS1” (The “S” stay for super where with the [shoplink 14832]E-PL1[/shoplink] the “L” stays for lite).

What design do you like for thr PRO MFT camera from Olympus?

(FT2) Next Olympus M43 camera to be announced within one month?

A new source claims to have received some info about the next Olympus Micro Four Thirds pro-camera: “I had a longish talk with a person from Olympus, and after mentioning m43, and lens, he hinted to me that in a month Olympus will have another “yummy” product (it will be a m43 body), and that their development plan for m43 will definitely move to pro m43. He said that they have already made enough basic lens, and that they will move to pro grade now. I know the guy for a longish time now, and I think there is high possibility that this new product will come out in stated period.

UPDATE: A second new source said hat there will be a new camera next month, M43rds, based on a similar principle of the Fuji X100 (Click here to see the camera), fixed lens pen basically…

UPDATE2: A third new source said: “I just read your new post regarding a new Olympus M4/3 to be announced in December. This is very interesting. Actually, I went to a photo show about one month ago… I was very very interested to buy the [shoplink 17163]E-5[/shoplink] + 12-60mm. However, I found the camera way too big for my needs. After a long and interesting discussion with the Olympus guy, I told him that I was also considering the Pentax K-5. So, he asked me how long I would wait for a new Olympus camera if something new was eventually coming (like a high end m43) … My answer was: No more than one more year! So, he simply told me: Wait until the end of December or mild January for an announcement by Olympus and few more months before being able to buy the product.

Taken together, I thing you got a very exiting news

Please keep in mind that both sources are new! Now I am asking my trusted sources if you can confirm or deny the rumor I posted above. Please contact me at 43rumors@gmail.com. Thanks!

For now the rumor has FT2 value only:

(FT5) Birger to make EOS lens to M43 adpater with aperture control!

The US company Birger will soon release a new Canon EOS to Micro Four Thrids adpater that allows aperture control! According to Barry Green (Dvxuser) we should get more news in a couple of weeks and the price should be something like $700. There is no information yet if it will also allow to use the autofocus. If the answer is yes than dear Canon-friends, you can join to Micro Four Thirds using all your lens gear! You will be able to use IS lenses like the [shoplink 17967 ebay]24-105mm f/4[/shoplink] and ultrafast primes like the Canon 50mm f/1.2 on Micro Four Thirds cameras.
Currently you can use manual EOS to M43 adpaters only. There are plenty of them [shoplink 17965 ebay]on eBay and they cost between $15 and $70 (Click here to see current auctions)[/shoplink].

P.S:: Birger already made a EOS to PL-mount adapter which has built-in wireless control and full AF and aperture control!

Philip Bloom tested a new external mic for the Panasonic GH2!

GH2: Movember Gala Party from Philip Bloom on Vimeo.

Philip Bloom tested the new secret external mic for the GH2: “I took the UK pre-production [shoplink 16254]GH2[/shoplink] with me along with the [shoplink 15659]Voigtlander 25mm f.95[/shoplink] and a brand new DSLR mic which I can’t say exactly what it is just yet, except it’s bloody awesome as you will hear. It was plugged straight into the GH2 (there are meters on the LCD for audio levels and manual control but no headphone jack) and I recorded most of the vox pops in the noisiest part of the club and you can still hear them. Amazing! As soon as I can blog about this new mic I will. It is going to be a DSLR must have.

Philip hopes Panasonic will add 25p on the european GH2 model. And for him one of the most amazing features is the 1080p 1:1 cropping mode. And I could not agree more!

Hurry! Fotomundus has one single [shoplink 15659]Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95 Nokton in Stock on eBay and shipping worldwide (Click here)[/shoplink].
