The SLRmagic company sent me a new email to say they will soon release more new Micro Four Thirds lenses. The next lens should be a fast 12mm prime.They didn’t told me how fast but I hope that it will come as close as possible to the [shoplink 18651 ebay]Avenir CCTV Lens (Click here to see it on eBay)[/shoplink] which has a f/1.2 aperture. Reminder: All those SLRmagic lenses are cheap-quality non-professional manual lenses. But they are cheap and do have a Micro Four Thirds mount (there is no need for adapter). If you are looking for a professional wide angle lens you should go for the new [shoplink 16258]Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 pancake[/shoplink] or wait for the next Olympus wide-pancake lens which will be announced during the next few months!

Dear readers, and here we are with the new Olympus E-PL2! That camera should be announced at CES which starts the January 6th. The camera features the same [shoplink 14832]Olympus E-PL1[/shoplink] sensor but has a completely new design and some new features:

1) The E-PL2 comes along the new  14-42mm f3.5/5.6 MSC (Movie & Still Compatible) kit lens
2) It has a direct movie button
3) A new High resolution 3.0″ LCD (460K Dots)
4) A new Art filter ->Dramatic Tone
5) And it takes pictures up to ISO 6400
6) UPDATED -> It also has a new external Bluetooth module called “PENPAL”. You can attach it on the hot-shoe to instantly send pictures to your Android or Windows mobile phone and share pictures on Flickr, Facebook and other social networks!

According to our sources Olympus will announce one new Micro Four Thirds camera in February. The camera will replace one of the current PEN cameras. Don’t expect major changes, it uses the same 12 Megapixel sensor but at least it features a new sensor engine. Along with that camera Olympus will announce three new lenses. One of those will be the new kit lens of the new PEN (it’s a pancake). I received a few more details about that camera but I want to double check them with my trusted sources. SLRmagic has a new Christmas present for Micro Four Thirds user! They announced a new 26mm f/1.4 lens on Twitter! As you know SLRmagic already has a lens with MFT mount (The [shoplink 14881]35mm f/1.4 which you can get here on eBay only[/shoplink].

The Panasonic 7-14mm f/4 lens is higly regarded lens (See the very impressive tests at Photozone and SLRgear). But it has two “flaws”. The high price and the missing optical stabilization. In USA problem number one has been partially solved thanks to the latest price drops. The lens is now in Stock for $817.96 only at Amazon (Click here). As usual Europeans can’t enjoy such nice price drops :(
But let’s talk about the new rumor! According to one of our (very!) good sources Panasonic could release a new version of the current Panasonic 7-14mm lens with optical stabilization! My other sources couldn’t confirm the rumor, so please drop me a line (via mail or via contact form) if you heard anything about that lens. Let’s make that FT3 rumor a FT5 news ;)

I for myself would be very happy if Panasonic would add OIS (that would become an awesome lens on my [shoplink 16254]GH2[/shoplink]!) but I do also hope Panasonic can make a more affordable price!

UPDATE: During the last 5 hours many sources sent me new rumors. I want to thank you all for your messages! Please understand that I will have first to doublecheck the rumors I received with other known sources. As you can imagine I often do receive false, or uncomplete (sometimes “crypted”) rumors and I don’t want to fool my readers. It’s Christams time and our sources have been so nice to send us the next very reliable rumor about Panasonic (Thanks!). According to them the new Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 lens will be announced in February/March! And there is one more surprise! It will be also be the kit lens of the next new Panasonic Micro Four Thirds camera!!! Sadly, I have no information about the camera (for now!).
The 25mm f/1.4 lens has been described by our sources as a very high quality lens (the image quality is very close to the actual [shoplink 16340]Panasonic/Leica 25mm Four Thirds lens[/shoplink]). But the lens will be bigger than the current [shoplink 14796]20mm f/1.7 pancake[/shoplink].

As you see on the roadmap above Panasonic is developing two new bright zoom and wide anlge lenses. But we are not certain yet when they will be announced. I was told by another source that Panasonic has already working preproduction samples. That’s why I expect those lenses to be announced soon!

The year 2010 is almost over and I want you to tell me what is the best (Micro-) Four Thirds product Olympus/Panasonic or others have announced. Panasonic unveiled 5 new cameras (I included the not yet available [shoplink 17361]GF2[/shoplink]) and 4 lenses. Olympus released 2 cameras (I don not include the all black E-P2 kit and the E-PL1s) and 4 lenses. We also had the [shoplink 15659]Nokton 25mm[/shoplink] from Voigtländer, the [shoplink 15629]50mm lens[/shoplink] from Noktor (although it looks like you can’t buy the lens anymore) and the [shoplink 14881]35mm SLRmagic lens (available on eBay only)[/shoplink] . Please let me know if I forgot something :)
