The chinese clone of the Metabones Speedbooster are not really famous for the image quality. But now I have been told that the Chinese seller [shoplink 46485 ebay]Mitakon[/shoplink] will soon launch the new Lens Turbo II version for Micro Four Thirds. It will have:
– Redesigned Lens
– New and improved coating
– Special square end of the lens

Now let’s hope they can come close to the Metabones quality!

The soon to be announced LX8 will have a built-in evf like the current LF1 you see on the picture above.

The Panasonic LX8 will be an exciting new premium camera. It will likely have a 1 inch sensor, built-in EVF, LX7 look and 4K video!

And yesterday a source (Many Thanks!) told me the lens will be 24-90mm f/2.0-2.8! The current only competitor is the Sony RX100m3 which has a 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 lens. Therefore the Panasonic will have a more useful tele lens and sacrifices only a third of stop at the wide end. But the huge news is that unlike the Sony it shoots 4K.

I also got some more info about the LX8 I am double checking with other sources. Stay tuned! Camera should be announced on July 16!

Before the big event at Photokina we will likely see some new stuff soon. This is what you can expect to see the next 30 days:

1) Olympus E-PL7 (FT5)
It’s basically an Olympus E-M10 without the viewfinder :)

2) Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO Zuiko MFT lens (FT4)
Save money: It’s a $1,799 lens.

3) Panasonic LX8 large sensor compact camera (FT5)
Has a built-in EVF, similar LX7 size and look and large sensor. Announcement on July 13.

4) More Panasonic and Olympus compact cameras (FT4)
It’s likely we will get a bunch of more (small sensor) compact cameras.

5) Olympus Trip (FT3)
I am really not sure yet about that rumor but we could see a digital “Trip-D” based on the [shoplink 35471 ebay]Olympus Trip 35 filmcameras (here on eBay)[/shoplink].

Short update on the Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 pricing rumor. I got the price in Canadian dollars too: $1899 CAD. Like I told you before I am not 100% sure but the US dollar price should be $1,799 like the Four Thirds (slower) version of the 7-14mm lens (here on Amazon).

A source just told me that Olympus is likely going to announced the new 7-14mm f/2.8 Zuiko MFT lens very soon! He also sent me the price in non $ currency. I made a rough conversion and the lens should cost  $1,799 which is also the price of the Four Thirds version (here on Amazon). But the FT version is one stop slower. I have been told the lens has an extremely high quality.

My best sources confirmed that Panasonic will launch a large sensor LX8 in July. Panasonic goal is indeed to make a high quality compact camera as the Sony RX100M3 (just announced two weeks ago). Therefore it has a built-in EVF but it will keep the LX7 look.

Announcement date is set for July 16!

One more thing: It’s still not confirmed via trusted sources but rumor has it that Olympus will also launch a high-end compact inspired by the [shoplink 35471 ebay]Olympus Trip 35 film cameras (on auction here on eBay)[/shoplink].
