“Panasonic will soon release new firmware update about end of November. The new function will be post-focus. It works just like 4K Photo as a photo mode. Camera shoots short 4K MP4 video and user can touch on any area to change focus point and save as JPG.”

Our reader Redmosquite spotted an interesting video interview with Panasonic Sweden. It says:

“Panasonic 100-400mm info from Swedish photo fair, comes in late february, priced at 22-23000 SEK which in Sweden is about the same price as the GX8 + 12-35mm kit. another reference is the Panasonic Lecia Nocticron which cost 15000 SEK in Sweden, so It will be really expensive. “

There will be certainly no new camera from Olympus and Panasonic this year. But still there is a small chance Olympus will give us the final specs of their 300mm PRO lens by end of November. A trusted source heard Olympus could give us some more official info by end of November. But it’s yet completely unclear if this means the lens will be available for preorder already or only by early 2016.

The same source also said that 2016 will be very exciting for Olympus. He will share some more info later. Stay tuned ;)

I just got this from an anonymous source:

“I asked what should be expected with the M1 II video, the Oly guy suggested that they will completely eliminate motion shifting in video recording. I asked does that mean they will bring global shutter to the camera, and he replied he doesn’t really know, as the Japan didn’t release anything in detail.”

Let’s hope the E-M1II will come soon and have global shutter…and 4K!

I think we have a pretty clear idea about what’s coming next from Panasonic and Olympus. So let’s make a roadmap table:

January-February:
Olympus will launch the 300mm f/4.0 PRO lens with in lens stabilization
Panasonic will launch the Leica 100-400mm f/4.0-6.3 lens.

February-March-April-May:
Olympus will launch a new kind of PEN camera with built-in EVF
Panasonic will launch a new GM7 4K camera
Both companies may also show early prototypes of their new fast prime lenses.

June-July-August-September:
Panasonic will launch the new GH5 cameras (maybe with 8k?)
Olympus will launch the E-M1II

Of course there will be some more stuff that we don’t know about yet. Maybe a GX8, another new PEN and some other premium glas.

That’s definitely a welcome addition and finally we can have some major change on the PEN line. Would be also nice to get some new sensor tech too :)

I have been told by a very good sources that the next MFT camera to be announced by Panaosnic will be the new GM7. Announcement in early Spring 2016!
