The russian company Zenit is back in business. And their first product will be a new Zenitar 50mm f/0.95 lens. The image above shows the E-mount version but Gavriloart reports other mirrorless system mounts will be supported too.

The big question is if the optical quality and price will really make this an interesting alternative of the [shoplink 59328 ebay]Speedmaster lens[/shoplink].

Panasonic product announcement at 11am Las Vegas time

Bildschirmfoto 2016-04-17 um 12.23.51

I have been told by sources that Panasonic will launch new products today at the NAB show at 11:00am Las Vegas time. I got no info about possible new MFT cameras. I guess we will get new camcorders “only”.

Still, it would be nice to get a 6K GH5 today :)

Debunking rumor: GH5 likely not to have 8K

GH5

There is a rumor going around the web suggesting the Panasonic will announce a 8K MFT camera. I guess most of them think this will be THE feature of the GH5. But I want to remind you that

Panasonic itself announced that it will announce an 6K (not8k!) mirrorless system camera during fiscal year 2016. The specs will be:

– 6k recording at 30fps and 4K at 60fps
– Each 6K frame has 18 Million Pixels. this means you can screen grab 18MP photos from each 6K recorded frame
If the camera records 6K than the Four Thirds sensor will have 20+ Megapixels in “normal still photo mode”.

It’s more likely that we will see a Panasonic 8K camcorder(!) before we get a GH with 8K.

New Panasonic patent discloses a 27mm f/1.8 fixed lens MFT camera

Nikon_FF

We found a newly published Panasonic lens design patent which shows a 27mm f/1.8 lens designed for a fixed lens mirrorless camera with Four Thirds sensor. The patent also shows some possible variations of the lens design (24mm f/1.8, 25mm f/2.8 and 21mm f/2.8).

I am yet not sure Panasonic will ever launch a LX100 version with that lens.

Q&A with Panasonic at Popco: “24MP is the maximum we could reach now” and “We’re not considering going FF”.

A 43rumors reader sent me this (Thanks!):

There is a person who claims himself had an interview with an employee from Panasonic HQ while he’s on his photo trips in Japan.(That’s how I got from his post) I’m not sure about this, anyhow it seems the OP had attended some kinda customers meeting by Panasonic. He refers the interviewee is occupied in video department.
So here’s the Q&As with him at Popco (translated by the 43rumors reader):

Q: Any possibility for multi-aspect again?
A: We didn’t gave the multi-aspect up yet. That said, we’re considering it with the market flows.

Q: Did GM line go away?
A: In Europe we’re successful with GH, G and GX, while we’re most profitable with GF in Asia. GM sales didn’t came up to our expectations, so we’re adjusting the timing for release.

Q: Is it possible to improve AF performance on 4K/30p technologically?
A: It’s possible.

Q: Then is it possible as well on GX8, G7 via firmware upgrade?
A: We’re considering. As processor-image processing engine- allows we’ll find the way out.

Q: What’s going on the organic sensors?
A: We’re on the way of development. That’s all I know for now, and I hope the sensor to come in M4/3 as well.

Q: UHD goes to 8K in the end. Can we have the 8K on M4/3 sensors?
A: Personally I expect the M4/3 sensor allows 24MP at maximum. I doubt if M4/3 sensor could offer more than that MPs considering pixel density matter.

Q: Then we should have an organic sensor as a prior condition for 8K, right?
A: (Smiling)I think so. Yet I have nothing to say about organic sensors.

Q: How about GH5?
A: My apologies, but I’m not allowed to tell anything of it. We’re on the development.

Q: Would FF ever comes from Panasonic?
A: We’re not considering FF. The beauty of M4/3 is its compactness and we’re maximizing its value in that regard.

Q: Any comments for tiny grainy noises?
A: It’s all about sensor density, so I can’t say if it would get improvements soon. We’re taking it into our account as well.

The above is what OP presented. I found some additional informations on comments section. It looks like from another participant of the (same) meeting.

Q: Does panasonic have any plan for retro-designed cameras like X100 or PEN-F?
A: We don’t.

Q: Would every forthcoming cameras have 4K? If they would, then do they have same 4K features?
A: I expect they’ll do have 4K all, yet I’m not sure if their features and performance would be same.

Q: Could existing models like GF7 acquire 4K via firmware update?
A: I doubt it Processor-wise.
