The new Handevision 40mm 0.85 MFT lens gets a surprising positive feedback from Lensrentals!

Most of us were convinced the new Handevision 40mm f/0.95 would just be an expensive gimmick. And so was Roger Cicala from Lensrentals. But when he tested the lens he had to change his mind about it:

In my expectations at the beginning of this article, I never expected this lens to do this well in the center. I didn’t even consider it a possibility. I can’t tell you that it’s worth $2,000 to you, but I can certainly say it’s not overpriced for what it offers. This is an excellent lens.

So this lens is not a gimmick, but it remains a very expensive piece of glass. Is that mini aperture advantage worth 2x the price of the Voigtlander Nokton?

First review of the Kodak PixPro S-1 at Digitalversus.

The yet not in Store Kodak PixPro S-1 got reviewed for the first time at Digitalversus (Click here). The camera earns 3 points aout of five and the conclusion says:

It’s great to see Kodak/JK Imaging making headway so quickly and already releasing its first mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera—one that uses an already existing standard (Micro 4/3) rather than simply creating yet another mount. The S-1 is a basic camera, but it also doesn’t suffer any deal-breaking flaws, which is good news for a first release. It is in no way a rough draft, and the firm has a palpable desire to move onwards and upwards. Can’t wait to see what’s next! Until then, we have to say, Panasonic and Olympus’ competing models are the safer choice.

If the camera will ever hit the American and European is unclear. The camera main market will be China and few other Asian countries (at least for now).

New SLR Magic Anamorphot video review.

A 43rumors reader just sent me his review video of the new SLR Magic Anamorphot:

Just watched TheCameraStoreTV video on the SLR Magic Anamorphot, and was disappointed to find it was not up to the quality of most of their videos. I just posted this video a couple days ago with my unboxing and impressions of the SLR Magic Anamorphot, where I go into detail that will give potential buyers a better idea of the adapter and the results it can give you.

First IBELUX 40mm f/0.85 review!

The world’s fastest lens for mirrorless cameras is the Ibelux 40mm f/0.85. You can get it with native MFT mount at Adorama (Click here) and in Germany at Technikdirekt.

DC.watch (google translation here) is the first website who reviewed the lens (Fuji X-mount version). They posted many image samples and test. Of course it’s a bit tricky to rely on the google translation tool but these are their findings (if correctly interpreted):

– lens quality is very high (made of metal and nice glossy painted black).
– smooth focus ring and very accurate. A bit weak click when using the aperture ring (sometimes you may don’t notice it and rotate further).
– sharpness is decent wide open and improves dramatically at f/2.8 towards.
– There is some fringe at wide aperture
– It has a “gentle” blur
– no major ghost or flare issue

Now are your ready to spend 2000Euro/Dollars on that lens? Me not :)

First test of the new Tamron 14-150mm MFT lens.

The resolution chart of the Tamron 14-150mm lens.

The newest Micro Four Thirds lens is the Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5,8 zoom lens. And the first site reviewing the lens is the spanish DSLR magazine (google translation here). These are their findigs:

– resolution is high in the center but just average in the corner.
– chromatic aberrations are very low in the center but visible in the corner.
– Vignetting and Distortion are well controlled.

The lens doesn’t deliver a top quality results but the performance is well-balanced and if you consider the price it’s actually a very good lens for the money.

The lens can be purchased in many stores like for example here on [shoplink 47166 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

Full FZ1000 Review at DPreview.

Dpreview just posted the full FZ1000 review and writes:

For those looking for a superzoom camera that excels at both photo and video quality, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 delivers. While it doesn’t have a constant maximum aperture of its biggest competitor – the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 – the FZ1000’s F2.8-4 lens covers a much greater 25-400mm equivalent range. The FZ1000 has an advantage over ILCs, as any lens you add to one of those cameras will be larger, heavier and pricier.

The camera gets a Gold Award with a very high overall score of 82%.
