I am not certain yet about the exact announcement hour. But usually Olympus announces the new stuff at 6am in the morning (London time). Panasonic should also announce the new compact cameras very soon (no Micro Four Thirds camera form them).
As usual I will collect al interesting news and reviews in one post. If you found something I didn’t already post here drop me a line! Thanks!
3,601 43rumors readers voted the poll for the best (Micro-) Four Thirds product of the year. And the winner is the Panasonic GH2 with 1,150 votes (32%)!
That’s probably not a big surprise. The Voigtländer 25mm lens is on place two with 598 votes (17%). And on third place we have the Olympus E-5 with 530 votes (15%). As you can see the high-end products are on top of the list. The Panasonic G10 had 4 votes only….that’s why BHphoto discontinued it? :)
And the worst placed lens is the Olympus 40-150mm lens with 6 votes.
Michael Reichmann and Chris Sanderson had more time to spend o the Panasonic GH2 and are sharing all their discoveries on Luminous Landscape. They explain you a manual focusing trick and found that “When shooting in low-light situations, the rear screen and EVF are quite inaccurate in both density, noise and colour rendition.” But the part I like most is the 24p Cinemod review: “We’ve never before seen a video DSLR with this film-like image quality.”
BCNranking posted the digital system cameras sales share of the whole 2010 (To be exact until the 12th of December)! Three Panasonic cameras (the GF1, G2 and the G1) and two Olympus cameras (the E-Pl1 and the E-P1) are into the top 20 of the most sold cameras with interchangeable lenses. The GH2 has come been available since late October only that’s why it didn’t made it into the top 20. There is still a lot to do to catch up Canon and Nikon but as you can see the situtation is changing slowly in favour of the new mirrorless cameras. Do you have any suggetsion to make for Panaosnic and Olympus on how to close the gap between them and the Canikon dominance?
A few weeks ago I told you that Panasonic Europe and Panasonic US already sold out the first stock of cameras (so if you preorder now you will still have to wait a little bit of time). Today Panasonic announced that they are ready to ship the AG-AF100. Right now you can preorder the camera at BHphoto or on eBay. Reminder: This is the link to the fist shortmovie made witht the AG-AF100: http://vimeo.com/18073096

And here it is the new native Micro Four Thirds lens from SLRmagic. The Toy Lens 26mm f/1.4 lens is a multi coated manual prime lens. It is a special effects lens that is meant to capture impressionistic images. Dreamy, color twist, and noticeable vignette: “The lens is great for portrait photography and some say that it is great for Lo-Fi photography. We occasionally receive questions about how this lens differ from the kit lens. The simple answer is it will enable you to capture photos in every other way that the kit lens cannot. Toy Lens was designed to bring more fun to your photography.”
So it doesn’t sound like that lens has a great sharpness ;)
