Sony has to stop sensor production in Kumamoto: Panasonic and Olympus affected too.

Bildschirmfoto 2016-04-29 um 10.48.40

Yesterday Sony reported that it will have to keep closed their Kumamoto image sensor production facility at least til End of May. The factory produces image sensor for digital cameras. This includes many Olympus and Panasonic cameras of the present and of the future. The E-M1II (and maybe the GH5?) is rumored to feature such a Sony 20MP sensor too.

I expect that some of the future Panasonic and Olympus cameras announcement and/or shipment may be delayed. Nikon already reported that id had to delay the Nikon DL camera shipment.

New ON1 RAW processor for ultimate speed and flexibility!

Bildschirmfoto 2016-04-27 um 08.04.33

The Megapixel race will never be over. And to be able to work those huge RAW files we need faster formats. And that’s exactly what the new ON1 RAW processor is all about:

The current class of RAW-based photo editors require photographers to catalog their photos, bounce between apps for editing, and forces them to work within the confines of their ecosystem. They haven’t adapted their apps to work efficiently with today’s popular 42- and 50-megapixel cameras. For years photographers have been asking us for a super fast RAW processor and non-destructive photo editor without the painful import process. This is ON1 Photo RAW. In development for years, ON1 Photo RAW will be the first RAW processor released in more than a decade and feature a new modern RAW processing engine, tuned for today’s sensors and graphics chips. Combined with our current set of tools, ON1 Photo RAW will bring photographers the world’s fastest, most flexible, and easiest to use RAW processor and photo editor available. ON1 Photo RAW, the next generation of ON1 Photo 10, will continue to work where you want, as a standalone, a plug-in, or host app for other editing apps.

You can read all details and see videos at on1.com. The new RAW format will be available this fall for a yearly $150 subscription. UPDATE: You can also buy it without a yearly membership.
It will be curious to see how fast the new format handles High Resolution image from Olympus and Panasonic.
