Imaging Business status:
During fiscal year 2016 Olympus had a -1% net sales mainly due the compact camera sales dropping. The Mirrorless system camera sales had a 5% increase. Olympus writes:

In the mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera field, the OM-D series and “OLYMPUS PEN-F,” etc. increased sales, with sales also boosted by a contribution from the high performance interchangeable lenses “M.ZUIKO DIGITAL PRO” series with additions of new models bringing the lineup to five models. Meanwhile, in the compact camera field, the Company continued to limit the number of units sold in response to market shrinkage. Consequently, sales in the Imaging Systems Business overall decreased year on year.

Forecast for the Imaging Business:
Olympus writes that the goal for fiscal year 2017 is “Breakeven to be achieved by reducing SG&A expenses to level matching business scale. Reduce expenses to level matched to scale of sales by stepping up coordination with functional axis.”

Olympus corporation:
The company as a whole is doing very well and reports a “Record-breaking net income of ¥62.6 billion”
