WILD Rumor: Panasonic GH6 successor to be announced in January/February?

Share

It would be highly unusual for Panasonic to announce a successor only two years after the GH6 announcement. But there are two aspects to consider:

  • The phase detection AF is a crucial feature that Panasonic is eager to implement as soon as it gets on all models
  • The S5II with phase detection AF also was announce two years only after the original S5.

Panasonic now has a total of TWO cameras registered in China. Usually it takes up to a couple of months until registered models get officially announced:

  • Camera “P2303A” has dual 5.1/2.4GHz support indicating it’s a mode advanced model (Could be GH7 or SR1II)
  • Camera “P2301A” has 2.4GHz support “only” which indicates this is a more entry level model (Could be fixed lens camera or entry level MFT or some BG video model)
