The funnist GH4 unboxing video to date by Peter Gregg (and great AF test).
Whenever a new camera gets shipped you will find plenty of unboxing videos on youtube. But the one posted by Peter Gregg really beats them all :)
Watch the video above to see “His performance” and the very interesting AF test in complete darkness. It shows you an “Untold” aspect of the GH4 camera. It’s likely the best System Camera for low light focusing too! Peter also posted a 4K video sample you can see on Youtube.
Meantime Photoreview Australia tested the GH4 and writes:
From the start we felt the GH4 could be the most significant camera Panasonic has released so far, and after using it for almost two weeks we believe it will be a genuine game-changer. Not only is it a superior performer for still image capture, but to offer such a wide range of video options – many of them meeting professional requirements – puts the icing on an already attractive cake and takes the camera into areas we could only dream about previously.

(Part one for Europe) Get a cheap Panasonic GF3 camera before they are gone!
Like I told you recently there will be no new GF camera this year and Panasonic main focus will be on the GM line. And I suspect the GM line will never be as cheap as the GF cameras and that’s why it could be a good idea to grab one of the highly discounted GF cameras you can find right now. Let’s start with the GF3 camera. It’s really a good-looking (in my opinion) and well spec camera. Reviews can be read at Dpreview, Photographyblog, Imaging Resource and CameraLabs. And these are the best prices I found in Europe:
–
Blac body for 117 Euro at Amazon Germany (via DL).
Black body only for 169 Euro on [shoplink 45998 ebay]eBay DE (Click here)[/shoplink].
White display camera with 14-42mm lens for 243 Euro on [shoplink 45999 ebay]eBay UK (Click here)[/shoplink].
Red camera with 14-42mm lens for 279 Euro on [shoplink 46000 ebay]eBay DE (Click here)[/shoplink].
White camera with 14-42mm lens for 279 Euro on [shoplink 46001 ebay]eBay DE (Click here)[/shoplink].
Black camera with 14-42mm X pancake zoom for 292 Euro on [shoplink 46002 ebay]eBay UK (Click here)[/shoplink].
Black camera with 14-42mm and 14mm lens for 295 Euro on [shoplink 46003 ebay]eBay FR (Click here)[/shoplink].
Black camera with 14-42mm and 14mm lens for 295 Euro on [shoplink 46004 ebay]eBay AT (Click here)[/shoplink].
PLease let me know if you find more or better deals! It’s quite a challenge to check the GF3 price offers in all stores and all countries :(
(FT4) New Olympus E-PL7 to be annnounced in a couple of weeks.

What I wrote weeks ago (Click here) seems to become true soon. A new PEN is coming it will be the E-PL7. And it will feature the same 16Mp sensor used by the OMD-10 camera with 81 AF points, 8 fps and 3″ vari-angle touch LCD screen.
Nothing revolutionary (as usual with PEN updates) and from what I heard more “advanced” innovations will be announced at Photokina. The current E-Pl5 sells for $499 only with free extras at BHphoto (Click here) and at Amazon (Click here).

(FT5) Also the Panasonic GX line is being “re-thinked”.
Last week I told you how Panasonic decided to not release any G and GF camera this year. And another trusted source just told me that also the GX line is under review. Panasonic is now thinking to “re-engeneer” the GX series to make it really standout. If they don’t come up with something smart and realizable they will not update the GX7 this year neither.
Question to our readers: What should Panasonic do to improve the GX series and make it a real challenger for the competition like the Fuji X-E2 and Sony A6000?

Curiosity: Nocticron is the first Asperhical lens that gets rid of the “Onion effect”.
I swear, I never heard of that “onion effect” before. But It’s good to hear that the expensive [shoplink 46017]Nocticron 42,5mm f/1.2 lens[/shoplink] is the first Aspherical lens NOT showing that issue! Imaging Resource reports about a meeting they had with Panasonic engineers. Currently all Asperhical lenses on market show these strange concentric circles or spirals to appear in out-of-focus highlights (See image on top, very right image). Panasonic says their Nocticron is the first lens getting rid of them. The image on top shows how the effetc were on the Nocticron when they started to develop the lens. After 1 and half year the effect was gone (circle on the very left).
Panasonic is the only worldwide company that can produce these kind of aspherical lenses yet and Imaging Resource writes:
What’s more likely in the short term, though, is that other camera and lens companies may just purchase aspherical elements from Panasonic for critical applications. Panasonic already produces a huge volume of aspheric lenses for other manufacturers, and the people I interviewed for this article indicated that they would indeed sell aspherics made with this process to others … for a price.
