lx100

The Panasonic LX100 is in Stock for the very first time in USA via Adorama (Click here). And Gordon Laing from CameraLabs posted the full Panasonic LX100 review. The camera got highly recommended for the following reasons:

While some models are very close to each other, for example Canon’s G7X and Sony’s RX100 III, I’m pleased to see Panasonic delivering something genuinely different with the LX100. Indeed while I enjoyed the handling experience of the LX100, the standout feature for me was having 4k video. Not just filming in 4k, but generating timelapse movies in 4k and especially grabbing stills from 4k – all in-camera. Approve of it or not, 4k photo capture really is a game-changer, providing a genuinely useful means to record the decisive moment whether you’re shooting action or even portraits. Traditionalists don’t worry, it’s not going to replace or ruin photography as you know it. It’s merely another tool in the bag to deploy when the conditions suit. But what a tool to have at your disposal in such a small, light and comparatively affordable camera. It’s the icing on an already tasty cake that’s the Lumix LX100, a refreshing and highly enjoyable camera to use.

Panasonic and Olympus video interview at Dpreview. More fast primes to come in 2015!

Share

Matt Frazer from Panasonic

Dpreview posted a nice set of video interview of all camera manufacturers. And these two video interviews are about Panasonic and Olympus.

Ray Acevedo from Olympus

Matt from Panasonic didn’t share any clue about future products. But Ray clearly hints about possible future very fast primes. He says he would love to see a fast 10-11mm prime. And as you know Olympus patented a 12mm f/1.0 design (article here). Can’t wait to see that one :)

(FT2) Olympus has a PEN prototype with “vertical sensor”.

Share

Image of the latest new PEN: The E-Pl7.

I just got that strange new rumor about the future PEN development:

The pen line isn’t discontinued, rather it’s being taken back to it’s roots. One of the mockups has the sensor in a portrait orientation like the original film pens, the space saved by the shutter traveling sideways rather than vertically allowing a viewfinder above it (still in the center line of camera, which is hard to do with the vertical running shutter, almost all other mirrorless have the EVF on the left hand edge or a hump because of it).

The source claims to know that this is a just a prototype and he believes the management will not approve that for final production because it’s too much “risk”. So I figured out that we may help the management to decide by asking our readers what they think about it:

Should Olympus really release such a PEN with vertical sensor?

Leopold:Here is a music video i shot with my GH4! It´s my first one with this camera and my second one with singer/songwriter Georg Neureiter. I´m pretty impressed by the flexibility of this little camera and i really liked shooting outdoor handheld only with available light within just a few hours. Settings are written in the video explanation. Hope you like it!
