I guess you all know that Zeiss released their first “Touit” lenses for the Fuji X and Sony NEX systems. In a Zeiss FAQ posted by ePhotozine they stated that “Lenses for the Micro 4/3 mount are technically possible, but nothing is planned yet.”

Zeiss also explains why there is not MFT mount version of their current Touit lenses: “In order to reach the best compromise between lens size, weight and imaging performance for smaller sensors, e.g. the Micro 4/3, other optical and mechanical designs are sometimes more suitable than for APS-C”

Let’s hope they will make MFt lenses!

The E-P5 and this means that I have to work on the next bunch of rumors. So what’s going to be announced as next? According to the info we got we can expect plenty of new stuff. Here are the four new cameras:
1) The new OMD camera
2) The new E-x Four Thirds camera
3) The Olympus high end compact camera (not MFT but a fixed lens with (hopefully) large sensor (unlike the just announced Panasonic LF1).
4) A brand new and completely “different” Panasonic MFT camera.

I already got some info about some of these cameras and I am working to double check the early rumors I got. All I can share for now is that all that stuff is coming from late August till early September. That’s only 3-4 months from now. I know it’s hard to say without knowing specs and design…

Rumors classification explained (FT= FourThirds):

The E-P5 is here but a rumor site is always hungry and we collected two info about the next Olympus MFT camera. As you it’s coming in Spetember and it will be the new OMD model (E-M6?). Two rumors came right out of the E-P5 presentation:
1) Our friend Pekka Potka wrote: “Quite obvious to everyone seeing E-P5 should be that the next OM-D series model goes well above E-M5 in features. Incorporating VF-4 should be just one of them. And that is all I can say now…”
2) Olympus employees at the PEN Collection 2013 Fair said that next OMD will have phase detection AF (Source: biglobe).

It’s not the first time we get this rumors and and both features are very likely to make into the new OMD model. What are you hoping to get with the new OMD?

The Olympus E-P5 will be the first camera with the full “Olympus Pen” definition marked on the front. It’s a clear sign from Olympus that they consider the new E-P5 the real digital [shoplink 37006 ebay]PEN-F[/shoplink]. Too bad they forgot to made the built-in viewfinder that the PEN-F has :) As you know the PEN-F has “porro prism viewfinder” that allowed them to create a very compact camera with viewfinder.

Some of you said that the built-in exclusivity of the OMD range. Just for the record: Last year  Mr. Tarada told at Onfoto (Click here) that “A built-in viewfinder is not exclusive for the OM-D line”.
