At the Photo & Imaging 2023 event in China Panasonic managers said that demand of 8K on digital cameras is very weak and therefore you should not expect 8K to be implemented any time soon. This likely means that the S1H and the GH6 successor will both NOT have 8K recording.

If you remember back in 2017 Panasonic promised to launch an 8K MFT camera by 2020. Well, we might have to wait til the second half od this decade before this might happen :(

Some wild GH7 camera and OM1 firmware rumors

Our reader Finitas sent me this:

Trustworthy German blogger mentioned that a Panasonic GH7 might be out this year. He said it would be the only MFT camera coming out this year.
A firmware 1.6 for OMDS OM-1 and later a 2.0 with new functions could also come this year.

No idea who this blogger is…but I hope he is right :)

RUMOR roundup: G9II and two new OM zooms

To recap what we can expect the next months. I believe those three products will be announced within the next 3-4 months:

  • Panasonic G9II
  • 50-200mm f/2.8 PRO
  • 50-250mm f/4.0

Probably also one more OM camera is coming too. Don’t know if Panasonic also plans to announce new MFT lenses…
