I hope the new LX100 looks like the gorgeus [shoplink 46868 ebay]Panasonic LC1[/shoplink] you see here on top :)

Good news folks! The Panasonic LX100 fixed lens and Four Thirds sensor camera will come with an exciting zoom lens: 24-75mm f/1.7-2.8!!! The camera can record 4K, has built-in EVF and will be announced next week on September 15!

I have no info about the price yet and no info about the sensor but I suspect it will use the same 16 MP GH4 sensor. I have been told the camera is surprisingly compact too! Here is the short question:

Would you consider buying a Panasonic LX100?

Note: One source told me initial aperture is f/1.8 and another f/1.7. But I “believe” the second source is right ;)

(FT5) E-M1 2.0 firmware will improve EVF response down to 16ms (from previous 29ms)

Another trusted source shared more tidbits about the E-M1 2.0 firmware upgrade:

1. Olympus Capture: software tethering, you can do almost anything from your PC.
2. 2 new art filters : vintage and partial color
3. Faster EVF response 16ms (improved from 29ms)
4. Total 16 improvements.
5. Keystone feature: The good news, It works in liveview and you can use the 2 control dials to manipulate vertical and horizontal axis separately. Bad news, it doesn’t work in retouch mode and you can manipulate only 1 axis on a single image.

If you want the best lens on your MFT camera it’s coming: Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4!

Image via Digicameinfo

What you see here is the new Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4. And from what I heard this lens should beat the current Zeiss Otus 55mm optical performance and therefore become the best lens on market! It comes in Canon and Nikon mount and if you adapt it on a MFT camera you would get a nice 170mm fast prime lens. Or just use the Metabones Speedbooster (here at BH) and you will go back to the “original” focal length and gain 1 stop too!

Don’t know if such a lens is something for you considering the $4,000 price :(

Olympus itself confirms launch of a new OMD camera and a new lens.

Olympus Japan confirmed the launch of a new OMD camera and a new lens. But don’t get too excited, the new OMD they are talking about is the Silver E-M1 :)
And the new lens will certainly be the 40-150mm PRO MFT. I think the real big news may be the new firmware update which I repeat is said to bring massive improvements like Tethering, EVF quality improvements, Keystoning and other features, Live Composite, more new APPS, and plenty fo fixes…

Both Olympus and Panasonic will announce their new MFT stuff on September 15! As usual you can follow the event live here on 43rumors!

(FT5) E-M1 firmware, Silver E-M1 and 40-150mm PRO lens to be announced on Sept 15 (just like Panasonic)

Just like Panasonic also Olympus will have a major announcement on September 15. There will be the Silver E-M1, the new 2.0 E-M1 firmware update and the 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO lens. Probably Olympus will also update the lens roadmap and reveal some more tidbits. I don’t know if there will be some extra surprise (I don’t think so).

Reminder: Panasonic will announce the GM5 and LX100 on the same day.
