Interesting note: Zeiss seems to have killed the Touit lens line.

[shoplink 53857 ebay][/shoplink]

As you know two years ago Zeiss launched a [shoplink 53857 ebay]Touit lens series for Fuji X and Sony E-mount system[/shoplink]. Zeiss always said they would not offer those lenses for the MFT system. Well it looks like we didn’t miss anything because according to latest SAR rumor Zeiss “freezed” the Touit lens development. And it’s very likely Zeiss will completely kill the lens line. The reasons are two:

– Fuji X mount sales where sloppy because Fuji offers same quality (or better quality) X lenses for less money
– Sony is now focusing on Full Frame

In short: We didn’t miss anything. That said, it’s still pity to not have Zeiss on the MTF board.

No, there is no Panasonic version of the Leica Q coming yet.

large_leica_q_f001

As you well know Leicas fixed lens cameras have been mostly “copies” of current Panasonic fixed lens cameras. Yet on June 11 Leica will announce a new Leica Q Full Frame fixed lens camera with 28mm f/1.7 lens. A few 43rumors readers asked me if the camera is made in collaboration with Panasonic and if there is a Panasonic version coming. Well, I have not heard a word about that. I have been told the next camera to be announced should be the FZ300 and after that the G8.

Naturalexposures: Panasonic has one new lens that is nearly ready to go!

Daniel Cox from Naturalexposures met with Panasonic Lumix executives Henri Nishikawa, Shinji Watanabe and Yasuhide Yamada. And Daniel got info about one future new lens:

I can’t relate specific details about what might be coming. But I can say that Lumix does have a lens in development that’s nearly ready to go. It will be a huge leap forward and something I’m extremely excited about and I’m confident others will feel the same.

and:

I can tell you that we spoke about the entire range of lens choices a professional photographer or serious enthusiast requires to truly hone their photographic craft. There were even a couple of lenses they suggested I hadn’t thought about that were very exciting. I came away from the lens discussions feeling very positive that the Lumix brand has no plans of letting Olympus garner all the attention.

I don’t know if the lens Daniel is talking about is the 150mm f/2.8 that was on hinted by Panasonic a long time ago…

Thanks Daniel for your report!

Bildschirmfoto 2015-05-09 um 07.15.36

As leaked by Digicameinfo the GX8 is a real deal. But you still have to wait a bit more for the announcement. Trusted sources confirmed the camera is scheduled for a late August/early September release.

While waiting to get some specs…what are the features you wish Panasonic will add on the camera?

Panasonic 8K camera with 33MP stills(!) is the future.

panasonic-slide-4k

Quesabesde and ePhotozine got info from Panasonic about their 8K plans. ePhotozine writes:

Panasonic announced plans for future 4K and 8K video and photo features, including 4K at 60fps and 120fps, as well as the ability to take 33 megapixel still images from 8K video footage. They say they are planning to have this technology ready for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. No further information was given at the time.

It’s very likely the GH5 will not be that first 8K camera. More like the GH6 or another High End model coming between 2017 and 2020. The GH5 is set to be released in 2016 already!
