A couple of days ago I told you that Olympus will announce the new 300mm f/4.0 on January 6 at 6am London time. I keep receiving first hands-on impressions from sources. In summary what they say is:

– Image Quality is truly impressive. Worth every penny you pay for it
– Image stabilization is also the best they ever experienced on such a lens.
– The Build Quality is also very very very high

Digicameinfo leaked the first pictures of the Panasonic DMC-TZ100. The camera will be announced on January 5 at the CES show next week. The known specs so far are:

– 20.1MP 1 inch sensor
– 25-250mm f/2.8-5.9 lens

I have been able to try the upcoming 300 f4 from Olympus and the stabilization performance is absolutely amazing. I was able to take sharp shots at 1/50 with an EM1 in a very poor lights conditions

Sounds good! Now let’s hope Olympus will price the lens as low as it gets!

I previously said the Panasonic-Leica initial price is rumored to be close to $2,500. And the source also said he expects the street price to be $2-300 lower once the lens is available.

Now a second source from Europe told me the price will be just under 2.000 Euro. So let’s hope the last rumors are right and the lens is indeed a bit cheaper than expected.

One of our best sources contacted me today to confirm the PEN-F features the new Sony 20MP MFT sensor. And he also added that he knows the PEN-F will not be announced during the CES show. But maybe there are different announcements in different countries. So we can’t be 100% sure yet it’s not coming on January 6th.

A trusted source “heard” the PEN-F uses a new sensor. He cannot confirm with 100% certainity but the PEN-F it should feature the new Sony 20 Megapixel MFT sensor. Specs can be seen on the Sony image above (20MP, 27 fps).
