Panasonic confirmed a CES press event on January 8 at 10am PT time. I see a low chance for a camera announcement on that day. But we might get some more news about the GH5s? :)

Like I told you last week on December 15 Panasonic has a press event with journalists and film makers. But the camera will not be announced to the public yet. They will all have to sign NDA and will be able to test the camera for a couple of weeks.

We know this about the GH5s:

– This is a low light version of the GH5. It probably has a new low resolution sensor.
– This will be a more advanced version of the GH5 with improved video quality, stunning low light performance
– Price around $2,500
– Same GH5 body with red ring on the drive mode dial and new big red record button
– December 15 press event for journalists but announcement may be in early January?
– Shipment start in February/March

Panasonic is going to present a new 8K sensor at the ISSCC conference in February. These are the known specs:

8K4K-Resolution
60fps
450ke- -Saturation-Signal
Organic-Photoconductive-Film
Global Shutter CMOS Image Sensor with In-Pixel Noise Canceller

I really don’t think this is the sensor used by the soon to be announced GH5s. But this is really a hell of a sensor!

I told you before that Panasonic invite the press for a big event on December 14-15. I now learned that it is likely that Panasonic will not announce the GH5s to the public on those days. They maybe will let them sign a NDA and announce the camera to the world on or around January 8. This to allow journalist to have some more time to test the camera before it’s official.

I am sorry to have to correct my previous rumor and that you have to probably wait three more weeks. This is the first time Panasonic does a two-day press event (like they did with the G9) and not announce the camera to the public immediately after the end of the meetings.

The invited journalist got yet no official info from Panasonic WHAT exactly they will show them. But Panasonic told them it is something “video”. Which confirms once more that this is for the GH5s!

The same source who first sent me the GH5s info now told me this:

“I got some more info about the GH5s price: I was told it should be in the 2499$ range. Availability by End February early March”

Neumann film posted that video teaser. And they say they are shooting a “Super Secret Project”. If you look closer some frames of the image show the GH5(s?) with the red ring on the drive wheel and a red record button (see screen grab at very bottom of this post).

I hope to get some specs the upcoming days! Meantime some more specs speculation can be read at CameraJabber.

UPDATE: Our reader Wiki spotted this: He used the chrome plugin “VidIQ” to find the youtube video tags and see what’s on that list :)

Otniel Marlon from our GH5/GH5s group spotted a new Casey Neistat picture. And this time we can clearly see the new GH5s (or whatever the name will be) with the red ring on the drive mode dial just like the G9:

And below the GH5 writing you can see a red letter. Maybe it’s the “S” for GH5s or something elsse like that:

Ok, now I am starting to really belive that Casey is indeed using the new camera!

The past three days I got messages from two different sources saying that Olympus has a special 100th anniversary OM-D in the works!

I got no specs or other additional info yet. It’s unclear if this special version will be only a special OM-D color or kit version or some kind of new camera with new specs. I really hope it’s the latter!
