Voigtlander Nokton 42,5mm to ship in July for 1199 Euro!

Finally Voigtlander shared  the shipping info and price for the new 42,5mm f/0.95 lens! It will be in Stock in July for 1199 Euro (no info yet about the price in Dollar or YEN). I don’t know if you feel the price is right. But I am sure the Panasonic 42,5mm f/1.2 AF lens coming in early 2014 will not be cheaper!

WIll you buy the lens?

Matti Sulanto had an opportunity to talk with Mr. Kataoka, who is the General Manager of Olympus Product Development R&D Division. The video can be seen on top of this post. These are the core info:

– Four Thirds User are very valuable to Olympus and they will continue to develop bodies that can be used with Four Thirds lenses.
– Olympus developed MFT lenses for general users. We are focusing on the tele lenses.
– Collaboration between Olympus and Sony is mainly on the medical business.

Olympus desaster forecast….Don’t worry, there is more chance the analysts will fail.

I keep receiving emails from readers pointing me out the report published by Yahoo (Click here). It says that the digital camera business from Olympus will disappear from the US market within 2014. It’s not the first time I hear these kind of negative forecasts about Olympus and as of today…Olympus digital camera business is still alive :)

Honestly, I think there is a bigger chance that Yahoo will crash in 2014 rather than Olympus! I agree with Thom Hogan when he says: “The medical side of Olympus is healthy enough that they can take their time deciding ultimately just what happens with cameras, and I’m pretty sure they’ll first try to execute a strategy that helps them get back to profitability before giving up on it.

So please don’t worry, and let’s see what Olympus will deliver us soon with the new OMD!

Submit, find and share Micro Four Thirds deals on DealsRunner.com.

Every day 43rumors reader send me deals about MFT stuff from all over the world. And it’s impossible for me to post them all on 43rumors. That’s why in collaboration with my colleagues from other rumor sites and a couple of crazy programmers we created a platform where you can share your deals! It’s called DealsRunner.com. It’s actually a community platform where people not only can submit but also comment and vote the deal “hotness”. And you can get notified when new deals of your interest have been posted. I would kindly invite you to register and join the community (it’s very easy, you can also register by one click Facebook or Twitter connection).

I will soon embed the deal stream in my sidebar on 43rumors. This will enhance the quality of the websites because:

1) As you know I work alone on 43rumors. And I am not always online and sometimes it happens that I miss to post links to good deals. By following dealsrunner you will not have that issue anymore.
2) If the concept works than I can start to post less deals on 43rumors and use my more of my free time on regular news and rumor coverage.
3) You can customize your geographic area and deal category so that you can get notification about deals that really could be interesting for you! Example: If you live in Europe you can choose to get notified on European deals only. And for you can also set your area of interest (for Panasonic and Olympus brands).

Below I attached two very basic self made explanation of how it works:

And there is a filter to display the deals you want. Click on that one to see a larger image:

I really hope you will find it useful! You would take me away quite some stress by using this platform. So feel free to register and try to submit some deals you know of! http://www.dealsrunner.com/

Editor’s note: I also plan to redo 43rumors with a more simple and less cluttered layout. But it will take some time because I am busy with my newborn. And I have to use my spare time on GX2 and OMD rumor work. I expect the new 43rumors site to be online by late 2013.

Thank you! And please send me your feedback of DealsRunner at admin@dealsrunner.com. And if you have some smart idea for the new 43rumors site contact me at 43rumors@gmail.com!

Oh wait….this is the biggest lens ever used on a MFT camera!

A couple of days ago I posted the images of the GH2 with the massive Kodak Ektar lens (Click here to read the article). I thought this would be the biggest lens ever used by a MFT camera. But Esben Garn proved me wrong by sending these pictures of his GH2 with 100x lens broadcast lens! Massive combo :)

UPDATE: The lens costs over $200,000 at BHphoto (Click here)!!!
