Curiosity: Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 has been actually designed by Pentax???

Egami spotted a Pentax patent describing a 14mm f/2.5 lens. The curious thing here is that the desing seems to be close to the [shoplink 16258 ebay]Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 lens[/shoplink] design! Just compare the lens elements images I posted on top.

After Sigma and Konica-Minolta also Pentax designs lenses for the MFT system?

New Fuji “OMD” alike camera challenges the E-M1.

With the Fuji X-T1 announced today (specs here at Amazon) Fuji is going clearly after the Olympus E-M1. The size is about the same, they both have tilting LCD, both have a great EVF, both have about the same level of weather sealing. The major difference is that the Fuji has a larger APS-C X Trans sensor while the Olympus has the superb 5 axis stabilization and 1/8000 shutter. I guess the E-M1 finally got his first real competition. Let’s hope this will force Olympus to lower price and work on an even greater successor ;)

P.S.: The X-T1 viewfinder is quite big and is also “flat” just like the E-M10 that will be announced tomorrow (see image below)

P13:I’ve just finished a video with the final retail version of the SLR Magic Anamorphot with the SLR Magic 35mm T1.4 Cine Mark II, also the SLR Magic +0.33 and for some shots the +1.3 acromatic diopters were used. I’ve found the lens practical to work with on a portable rig (I’m using the Edelkrone Pocket Rig), with it being easy enough to rack focus to a sharp image.

Frank:I came across this review and thought you might be interested: http://brooksreview.net/2014/01/omd-em5/. Seems like it’s still a nice camera, even at 18 months old.

Joel:I put together a demo video of some video and photos taken with the Olympus Zuiko ED 50-200mm f2.8-3.5 paired with the Panasonic GH3 for some extreme focal length shooting. Check it out below to see what can be done! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CAfAVW4crI

Roy:As it is a festive time, I happened to shoot street in Kolkata (India) with my gear Olympus OMD-EM5 with M.Zuiko 45mm f/1.8 at night. I have written my experience in my blog. Here is the link for it: http://www.samudranil.in/blog/?id=71643644708

Hinting: I have just completed the quick test on leica M and screw mount lenses on the tiny GM1.  This time the post is linked to individual lens test, which was fun to do.  This is not a scientific test, just some real world samples to see how the different lenses compares.  The images are developed from RAW files, processed in lightroom and resized to 1600 pixel wide. Enjoy!

Small surprise: New Rokinon with MFT mount launched and in Stock!

Samyang/Rokinon quietly introduced two new MFT mount version of some of their lenses. They are already available at BHphoto:

Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC (Click here to see it at BHphoto).
Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC (Click here to see it at BHphoto).

These are lenses designed for Full Frame DSLR cameras. The only thing that they did change is the mount. That’s why the lenses are big. But what the heck, $299 for a very good quality 85mm f/1.4 lens is a no brainer if you don’t care about the size!
