First image samples taken with the new Olympus 14-150mm lens!

Share

As you know by end of June Olympus will release the new Olympus 14-150mm f/4.0-5.6 lens (preorder on amazon for $599).

Inside the forum photofan.jp there is one of those lucky guys that had the chance to test the new lens (google english translation). He says that focus speed is fast and very quiet. The lens it selft is very lightweight, zoom ring is very large and focus ring is very smooth.

I will post here two of the images he has taken with the lens. The first image has been taken at 14mm and the second at 150mm. Click on the image to enlarge!

(FT5) HOT! Panasonic new stuff coming soon (next week)!

Share

We received rumors from multiple sources that Panasonic will soon announce new stuff. It is very likely that new Point and Shoot cameras (and not MicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirdsMicroFourThirds cameras) will be announced NEXT WEEK!

We hope they will also launch the long awaited 14mm f/2.5 MFT lens (but that’s only speculation).

(FT2) Olympus future modular camera with tilt-shift option?

Share

The following rumor has been sent by a new source. I post it because I was not able to get confirmation from other sources. Maybe some of you can tell me more about it ;)

According to the new source “One module will use the space that is taken up normally with the mirror to perform tilt&shift functions with the sensor…..so in other words if you think about how tilt and shift was done with the old 5×4 view cameras5×4 view cameras5×4 view cameras5×4 view cameras5×4 view cameras5×4 view cameras5×4 view cameras5×4 view cameras5×4 view cameras5×4 view cameras5×4 view cameras by moving the film plane. The only difference here would be the sensor plane would be shifted……..could be novel because rather than performing tilt and shift in the lenses it would be done with the sensor as in a view camera……this would mean you could have tilt and shift function with zoom lenses!!!

How-to install the Panasonic GH1 firmware hack (EosHD)

Share

EosHD just made a wiki entry where he explains how to install the Panasonic GH1 firmware hack.

List of major improvements:
– 24p native footage, no need to unwrap from 60i or use pulldown on NTSC models
– Increase in image quality
– Higher bitrates in AVCHD mode
– Interface language can be selected from large range of international options

Sounds awesome. Let me know if the firmware hack works without any flaw. And please keep in mind that this is a hack soyou have to be aware of the risks!
