1) dc98 posted some video samples on Rapidshare (but you have to be a member to be able to download the file). He says that “it’s really a great step in quality. But you will see, there is still some mud in fast movements at 1080, but quality is much much better then before ! Now its realy possible to use GH1 at serious production.

2) jobless posted a video sample you can download here. Paul Shields posted some screen grabs -> patched image and unpatched image

Now you can adjust the AVCHD bitrate on your GH1….up to 32Mbit !!!

Share

Tester13 just released the new PTool 3.35. Now you can adjust the AVCHD bitrate using provided preset to 32Mbit on your Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1Panasonic GH1!!!

The orginial note from Tester13:
Tested settings:
a) Gives you 22Mbit bitrate with some spikes up to 24Mbit.
b) Gives you 32Mbit bitrate with some spikes up to 34Mbit.

For 720p60 actual bitrate can be slightly lower (I get 27Mbit at b) ).
Top bitrate and best settings will be found by testers later.
Possibility is it can be as high as MJPEG top bitrate for FullHD mode.

Q: Such high bitrate clips are playable on camera?
A: Yes, no problems during my limited testing. All plays fine.

(FT5) Noktor to make custom lens design for MicroFourThirds….and even faster lenses!!!

Share

Ok that’s unfair. I admit that I received the “rumor” directly from Noktor :) So I guess I could call that “news” and not “rumor”. What did they tell us? “we now have a totally custom lens design in the works (not based on existing design like the Goyo lens)” and “It will be sharper and faster than our current F0.95 lens (but priced higher)“. They didn’t tell us how fast they will make the lens. The only ultra fast lenses I know (because I found them on eeBay) are the Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75
and the Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85Leica Leitz 75mm f/0.85

Noktor is following 43rumors so may you could tell them what kind of lens you need!

How much do you like (or liked) the GF1?

The Atlanta rumor could be true? The new “E-system” is coming at Photokina.

Share

Few days ago we posted the email we received from one of our readers. He said that he saw the new Olympus camera (the modular camera) in Atlanta. It is a new source that’s why I posted the news with a low value (FT2= 20-40% chance the rumor could be true).

But I was quiet surprised to see that one of my trusted sources sent me following email:
“I have a good reason the new camera would be seen in Atlanta. The gy who does all the training powerpoints for Olympus lives in Atlanta, and would be hanging out with the Japanese gentleman (probably Akira Watanabe) taking sample photos for use in his technical training powerpoints. The [shoplink 15032]Olympus E-3[/shoplink] could have been spotted in a similar manner back in 2007, and I know this for a fact. ;)

And a second (very good source) confirmed that few people is testing the new “E-system” camera in the field. So keep your eyes open! :)

P.S.: Click here ot read the rumor posted few days ago.

Panasonic G2 available in all worldwide amazon stores (The G10 is only available on eBay). It takes third party batteries?

Share

All amazon stores do have the camera in Stock:
Amazon Deutschland / Amazon UK / Amazon France / Amazon US / Amazon Japan

The G10 is still out of stock and only available here: Link to Panasonic G10 on eBayLink to Panasonic G10 on eBayLink to Panasonic G10 on eBayLink to Panasonic G10 on eBayLink to Panasonic G10 on eBayLink to Panasonic G10 on eBayLink to Panasonic G10 on eBayLink to Panasonic G10 on eBayLink to Panasonic G10 on eBayLink to Panasonic G10 on eBayLink to Panasonic G10 on eBay

One of our readers sent us follwoing message:
It seems that Panasonic G2 doesn’t bother is battery genuine or not!
It accepts anything you feed into battery compartment, any object that supplies proper voltage and has proper size..
Ordinary serial G2 specimen just bought in ordinary Russian shop was used for tests. It takes without questions three types of cheap China replace batteries, taken from three different sources. All three batteries were rejected by G1 with v.1.5.firmware.
It’s really strange that none of numerous pre-reviews ever mentioned this most useful feature of G2

One moe thing: New G2 image smaples have been posted at Whatdigitalcamera, Fotopolis and Pixinfo.
