New Panasonic deals (GF1, GH1 and more).

Share

We are getting closer to the Panasonic press release on September 21. As you know we don’t expect any GF1 replacement soon. At least the GF1 is becoming cheaper (in US):

J&R via Amazon is selling the Panasonic GF1 with 14-45mm Lens (Click here) and Panasonic GF1 with 20mm Lens (Click here) for $699 only. (Don’t forget to select J&R as Vendor)

The GH2 is coming soon but the Panasonic GH1 still remains a very good camera -> even if the Hack doesn’t work anymore :(
And again J&R via Amazon is selling the GH1 + 14-140mm lens (Click here) for $999.

Reminder: Today is the last day for the Olympus instante rebates:

You can save $100 on the Olympus 9-18mm lens. Click on those shop names to visit the relative product page: Amazon / Adorama / BHphoto

And you can save $80 on the Olympus 14-150mm lens. Click on those shop names to visit the relative product page: Amazon / Adorama / BHphoto

UPDATED: First 3D lens hands-on!

Share

UPDATE: More images of the camera+3D lens have been posted on engadget.

As you already know Panasonic will launch the new 3D lens for MicroFourThirds cameras. Quesabesde had the chance to hold one of those lenses (Click here to read the google english translation).

Here a short list of the most interesting parts of the text:

– “The lens simulates the vision of both the left and right eye, so it is possible to form a three dimensional image using a single sensor

– “We tested the lens on the [shoplink 14834]Lumix DMC-G2[/shoplink] and it has been possible to verify that the camera body automatically detects the presence of the 3D lens.”

– “The resulting files do have a size of 904 x 1600 pixels. In addition to the 3D file extension MPO, the camera also stores a JPEG image that displays the picture “normal” on the camera screen.

– “It also seems unlikely that this modality 3D is compatible with Micro Four Thirds cameras from Olympus

Thanks Quesabesde!

(FT5) No new Panasonic GF camera at Photokina

Share
[shoplink 14828][/shoplink] Bad news folks! There will be no new GF camera from Panasonic at Photokina. Three sources contacted me and said the new Panasonic GF2 will be announced in February 2011 only. All three told me the Panasonic GF2 is expected to be a very compact model like the Sony NEX-5 but with much better ergonomy and usability.

To compete against the Sony NEX and the future Samsung NX100 cameras Panasonic will lower the price of the current [shoplink 14828]Panasonic GF1[/shoplink] kits.

More Panasonic rumors will follow during the next days. We expect Panaosnic to announce the new products on September 21. Olympus will announce the E-5 on September 14.

First Noktor 50mm f/0.95 lens for sale on eBay!

Share

The Noktor 50mm f/0.95 is out of Stock on their official website (Noktor.com). But if you want that lens you can get it on [shoplink 15629 ebay]eBay right now (Click here)[/shoplink]! I own the lens and I posted some image samples here and here. A short video made with the lens is available here. The lens fits on your MicroFourThirds camera without the need of any adapter. What’s my opinion about the lens? In short, don’t expect sharp images at 0.95. But I like the soft creamy results, and the lens is sharp enough when shooting videos.

Check out the auction on eBay: [shoplink 15629 ebay]Noktor 50mm f/0.95 (Item location: Edmonton, AB, Canada)[/shoplink]

Look for the epxensive but very good [shoplink 14972 ebay]Canon 50mm f/0.95[/shoplink] if you absolutely need a good image quality wide open!
