A list of work done by our readers (using m43 gear!)

Share

Les hommes ne volent pas (short film) from Emmanuel BERNARD on Vimeo.

During the last couple of weeks readers sent me links to their own works done with m43 gear. This is the summary of all of them:

1) Emmanuel (Video on top of the post) “Hi, there is a student film made in Bordeaux and Barcelona. Everything was shot with the GH2 (execpt for one shot made on 5D). In fact we had 5 GH2 ^^. The lens used was : 20mm 1.7, 9-18 olympus, 14 140mm panasonic and a 50MM 1.8 canon. It ‘s student work but we were produced at a low budget by the university (for less than 5000€) that become slowly professionnal.  The last part is really impressive for the camera used. Hope you will post it on your site.
Thanks for reading. Cordially (and sorry for my english).

2) Arthur Kendrick:here is a short video I put together for a recent wedding: http://www.facebook.com/l/IAQCuL8irAQDRL_QFh1OAcQ9hBSCC6BoATQfMAkZz95RW4A/www.actlab.utexas.edu/~kingofthesofas/?p=415

3) Paul Kuchma (ART team Leader Freezelight-Art):  “Photographs taken with the Olympus 43 (E-620), ART team from Russia! Sorry do not know much english language (

4) Chris:Thought you’d might be interested in this. Digiscoping is taking off with the Panasonic GH2. I can only dream what it’s going to be like on the hacked versions J

5) Florian:Nice photos made with a PEN E-P2 on Flickr. Have a look. Hope you like the pictures.

6) Luis:I noticed your call out for any photography work that was created with m43 equipment and I wanted to pass along my own experience. I was on an assignment in Abu Dhabi this past December and I ditched my Nikon D3 + lenses when I visited a few cultural sites including the wonderful Grand Mosque.  It was great fun using this light camera with it’s 14-45 kit lens.  I’ve since moved on to the GH1 and I will carry it on all future jobs. Take a look at the images when you have some time.

7) Aaron:I’ve been a big fan of the website and have been checking it  almost daily since I got my first M43 camera almost 2 years ago. After seeing the link to Amos chapple’s website the other day (which I enjoyed immensely) it got me thinking that it would be great if you could feature the work of other M43 photographers somewhere on your site. I’m in the middle of a year long trip through Asia, and have been documenting my photos on www.aaroninasia.com all of which have been shot with the panasonic gf1 and the 20mm and 14mm lenses. (anxiously awaiting the announcement of the gf pro…). I just thought that your readers may be interested in another website updated regularly with travel photography made exclusively with the M43 format. If you think it’s a good idea, please post the link to my website, it may encourage others to contact you to post links to their websites as well. I love finding out about new gear, but sharing the photos this gear makes would be great too!

8 ) Johannes:discovered this guy on the DPReview MFT forums: http://www.flickr.com/photos/weesam/ I don’t think he’s a professional photographer, but I really love some of his landscape pictures!

Editors’s note: Thanks for sending me all those links! If you find more nice works drop me a text at 43rumors@gmail.com. Keep in mind that I might link to your work after days or weeks only!

(FT3) Olympus E-50 coming soon???

Share
[shoplink 21666][/shoplink]

Now that’s a surprise! I finally got a Four Thirds (not Micro FT) rumor from a known source :)

He contacted me to say that Olympus developed a new E-50 camera. He didn’t share any details but he said it will be on market within the next couple of months. As you might remember the ex-chief from Olympus Watanabe already stated that Olympus will continue to develop single and double digit Four Thirds cameras. The E-50 will replace the current [shoplink 21666]Olympus E-30[/shoplink]. At least that would be a concrete sign that Four Thirds is still alive!

Samyang 7.5mm m43 fisheye lens coming in September (+ first image samples!!!)

Share

Samyang just announced on facebook (Click here) that they will release the new 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye lens for m43 in September. And there is now also an official statement on their website (Click here). The lens provides a 180 degree field vision and is manual focusing only. You can also see the four very first image samples (again on facebook). Those images do look very good! We have no word yet about the price but it will be certainly much cheaper than the current [shoplink 14820]Panasonic 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye[/shoplink] lens. Click here to check the price of that lens: [shopcountry 14820].

One more editors note. Samyang makes chreap lenses with very high quality! The recent [shoplink 20647 ebay]35mm f/1.4 lens for Olympus[/shoplink] is simply amazing. See the test results on a Canon APSC- done by Photozone (Click here). I do hope Samyang will make more of those lenses for m43!

Message to Samyang. Make some decent compact and fast primes and I bet you will sell tons of them!

P.S.: All Samyang lenses for Olympus can be found on eBay only and under seven different brand names (Click on it to see all Four Thirds lenses from the specific brand!):

Olympus 12mm f/2.0 videoreview at Digitalrev

Share

I always enjoy to see those funny and not to much technical Digitalrev videoreviews reviews. They are good in highlight the “emotional” part of photography. The video on top shows their latest review of the Olympus 12mm f/2.0 m43 lens! Yeah, the price of that lens is a bit high but they liked it a lot! The lens is now in Stock in most stores. Check the availability and price by clicking those direct search links: [shopcountry 23576].

P.S: According to rumors the 50mm macro should be announced within the next couple of months but there is room for more of them! My suggestion to Oly…make a 17mm f/1.4 lens :)

P.S.S: Greetings to all the Digitalrev video team!!!

New Micro Four Thirds reviews (Including New York Times test of the E-P3)

Share

Mike Kobal is having fun with his new toys (Click here to read his E-P3 and 12mm lens article).

Olympus E-P3

The New York Times (Click here) wrote about the new [shoplink 23568]Olympus E-P3[/shoplink]: “micro-S.L.R.’s use the same slow focusing system as pocket cameras (the ones that miss so many split-second opportunities). So saying that the EP-3 focuses faster than professional cameras would be like saying that Ford’s newest pickup truck gets better mileage than the Toyota Prius. You can turn this camera on, focus and snap in under a second. The blackout time between photos has been cut in half. And when capturing its gorgeous hi-def 1080p video, the camera refocuses smoothly, quickly and silently as you zoom and pan, exactly like a camcorder. That’s extremely rare in still cameras.
Steve Huff (Click here) posted his final E-P3 review: “The E-P3 is a camera like no other though. When I shoot with any PEN camera I have FUN. The camera inspires me to take it with me at all times. Its small, sleek, thin and light. The out of camera JPEGS are very good and many times I shoot it just with the B&W art filter as I really love the look it gives. But the big question is IMAGE QUALITY! How does the E-P3 compare to the other cameras? Well, in all reality it is up there and close but you will still get better overall image quality from the X100, X1, and Ricoh GXR.
You can check the E-P3 price and availability by clicking those direct search links: [shopcountry 23568] (Click on shop name).

Panasonic GF3

Digitalcamerareview tested the Panasonic GF3 (Click here): “The GF3 is capable (with very little effort on the part of the user) of consistently and dependably delivering “pro” quality images. The GF3 successfully combines the look and P&S simplicity of a compact digicam with the larger sensor and lens interchangeability of a DSLR. To put that another way, the GF3 looks and behaves like a compact P&S digicam, but it performs like a DSLR.
You can check the GF3 price and availability by clicking those direct search links: [shopcountry 23109] (Click on shop name).

Panasonic G3

There is also a new Panasonic G3 review at DC.watch (Click here).

Mixed

Mobile01 posted a triple review. They tested the GF3 (Click here to read the google english translation), the E-P3 with the 12mm lens (Click here to read) and the Leica 25mm (Click here to read).
Dirk Weber sent me this: “I’m a regular reader of your site and this time I’d like to share a personal experience. ;-) Just for fun I tried a fashion shoot with the [shoplink 19904]XZ-1[/shoplink] a few days ago and it did a great job there. Here you’ll find pictures and a short review in German and some sort of English. If you like, just have a look at my wedding photography website http://www.brautrausch.de – all Olympus – featuring a 3 minute clip showing work with E-Cameras and PENs. ;-)
