(FT2) E-PM to cost 399 Euro (599 for the E-PL5)

Share

I got some more bits about the new Olympus PEN cameras:

The screen on the E-PL5 swings like the one of the Sony F3. It shoots 9fps. There is no built-in flash. The price with kit lens 599 Euro/Dollars. The E-PM2 with kit lens costs 399 Euro/Dollars.

While I leaked the full GH3 specs I still don’t know the final GH3 price. But I have the “suspect” that Panasonic still hasn’t unveiled to anyone what the price will be. They may are waiting to see what others are bringing? I hope that now that Nikon lowered the mark of FF cameras (with the D600) Panasonic may do the same on the pro GH3 :)

(FT5) First Olympus XZ-2 images leaks out! (and front pic of the 15mm lens)

Share

A reader just sent me a link to the first pictures of the new Olympus XZ-compact camera (via Tinypic). We also have been told by other sources that the sensor size will not change. It will use a similar [shoplink 19904]Olympus XZ-1[/shoplink] sized sensor and not a larger 1 inch sensor like you see on the Sony RX100 camera. But this is going to be a real nice camera and as you see form the picture you can even customize the grip like you do on the [shoplink 23568]Olympus E-P3[/shoplink]!

UPDATE: One more pic of the front of the 15mm m43 lens at mu-43.com

Black Magic Cine Camera review by Philip Bloom. (and an RX1 surprise)

Share

Video review of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera from Philip Bloom on Vimeo.

The first Micro Four Thirds camera to be announced before the Photokina show is the intriguing Black Magic Cine Camera (specs and preorders up at BHphoto). Philip Bloom posted this well made review I embedded on the post on top. The original article is available on his website: “The good news is with a M43 mount you can put on any lens with easily available adaptors for PL, M, Nikon, Canon. C mount (make sure they cover sensor). It’s a much more flexible camera lens wise and makes more sense than the EF version here.

Something else. Me and my friends form the other rumor websites are surprised about the new Sony RX1 popularity which at least according to Amazon ranking (Click here) is getting a lot of clicks and preorders. We are surprised because we didn’t believe people would spend that much for a fixed lens camera! We are talking about the reasons… but we didn’t came to a real conclusion. You have an idea?

Couldn’t agree more…enjoy the movie!

(FT4) New info about the new E-PM2 (or E-PM3) camera! With Smartphone remote control?

Share

[shoplink 23565][/shoplink]

Image on top: The current [shoplink 23565]E-PM1[/shoplink].

I got this info a couple of weeks ago and another source confirmed that the specs are correct. So here is the new info about the new E-Pm2 (or E-PM3?) model. I have been told there is a compatibility between the new PEN cameras and smart phones. So probably a sort of remote control and photo sharing service like we will see on the Panasonic GH3. The E-PM has a touchscreen that should be the same of the [shoplink 29074]Olympus E-M5[/shoplink]. The sensor is also the same of the [shoplink 29074]Olympus E-M5[/shoplink] but the new PEN cameras will not have the advanced 5 Axis IBIS of the E-M5. The new E-PM2 will come in RED, White, Silver and of course Black. And it has a new grip. The camera with battery and [shoplink 33351 ebay]SD card[/shoplink] weights 280 grams.

P.S.: If you don’t care about getting always the newest stuff there is some nice deal on the current E-PM1. The Black camera with kit lens sells new for 299 Euro on [shoplink 33352 ebay]eBay Germany (Click here)[/shoplink]. US readers can find plenty of refurbished E-PM1 at Cameta (Click here).

Competition announcement: three new NEX cameras and three new NEX lenses from Sony

Share

While we have to wait until September 17th to get our new m43 stuff Sony had the big showdown today. There is such a lot of stuff to see that I will make my life easier by simply linking you to the full live coverage that has been made by Andrea on SonyAlphaRumors (Click here). Full preorder list at AlphaCameraDeals (Click here).

My short option on the new stuff. The RX1 (Click here) would be nice if it would have an interchangeable mount. The VG900 FF camera has no great specs part of that huge FF sensor (why 24 Megapixel on a videocamera?). The NEX-6 (Click here) is certainly the most interesting news. But that just my short opinion. What do you think?
