Two new GX7 reviews!

Share

Short break from E-M1 talk. If that camera is too expensive for you then look at the cheaper and brand new alternative, the Panasonic GX7. There are two new reviews praising the camera:

Trustedreviews writes:

The Panasonic Lumix GX7 is a real leap forward in comparison to its predecessor, the GX1. It’s a solidly designed CSC with some real stand-out features, including the tilt-angle viewfinder and exemplary touchscreen LCD, that takes great photos, too.

And Whatdigitalcamera says:

The GX7 is a very polished and well-made camera that not only delivers excellent results, but is also a pleasure to use at the same time. Panasonic has made a bold statement saying that the GX7 is their best Lumix camera to date, and we have to say we fully agree.

So, here it is finally, the new High End OMD E-M1, the first camera that will unlock the full potential of Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds lenses. Specs  are also well-known.

1) It has a 16MP sensor with no AA filter and PDAF on sensor.
2) ISO 200 up to 25,600
3) 9fps
4) 60sec and 1/8000
5) Same VF-4 EVF (although in the video the Olympus rep says the wrong number).
6) Built-in Wifi

It will be a great camera but it will cost $1,500 for the body only. There will be a constant f/2.8 zoom too along the E-M1 announcement in early September. The full video is available here: http://uploaded.net/file/9pf6imwpNow that you know the camera design and specs…tell me…

(FT5) Olympus E-M1 gets leaked!!!

UPDATE: I have been asked by the Engadget team to remove the link to the video (and the images). I obviously told them that the images and video spread on the web thanks to the guys from Kakaku that found that hidden link to engadget’s Olympus E-M1 video (that has now been removed). But even if I had to remove the stuff it has been mirrored from kakaku to many other websites:

I told Engadget team that I am sorry for what happened to them. But even if I can remove the images and link video I cannot avoid to link to the websites having posted images and videos.

Panasonic Lumix 20mm Vs 20mm II Lens Comparison Review at ePhotozine.

Share

Big question, what’s the difference between the two 20mm pancake versions? ePhotozine (Click here) find it out for you:

The Panasonic Lumix G 20mm f/1.7 II with a redesigned styling and metal parts, and this gives a very slight improvement in resistance to flare, as well as a slight improvement in contrast. The redesign has very slightly improved the position of the surrounding plastic closest to the lens, which results in a very slight improvement in shielding light from hitting the lens at oblique angles.
The improved build quality should make the lens last longer, although unfortunately there has not been an improvement in focus speeds with both the old and new lens giving the same focus speeds in our testing. With the same excellent image quality, reasonable value for money, and compact size, this new model should be just as popular as the original and is an excellent choice for Micro Four Thirds users. The new colour options also better matches the new cameras from Panasonic and Olympus.

Be sure to read the full review at ePhotozine (Click here).

The new version is alreayd in Stock at BHphoto (Click here).

Tyson:I’ve been putting this together for a while now and got the first part of it done.  It is a gear post about losing weight through the mirrorless systems (m4/3 primarily) when preparing for a backpacking trip.  In the next part I’m going to focus on capturing techniques and then the final will be processing panos and hdr landscape shots using the micro 4/3 cams and lenses. http://tysonrobichaudphotography.wordpress.com/2013/08/12/the-mirrorless-diet-how-to-lose-weight-instantly-part-1/

Jurek:Wanted to share with you a five minute spoof video shot with a GH2 and the SLR Magic 25mm Hyperprime CINE, hand-held. The project came about quite spontaneously, hence the on-camera sound. But it’s audible. Personally, I’m extremely happy with what the lens puts out, and notice especially how well the red shirt is taken, red being a real issue for digital cameras. http://vimeo.com/72155683

Graham:I use m4/3 for my underwater photography, and recently had my photos published in the Daily Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2391373/Incredible-moment-shark-whisperer-hypnotises-deadly-shark-15-minutes-gentle-nose-rub.html. These were taken with my Olympus E-PL1 and housing setup! I thought it might be interesting news for you to share. Cheers!

Bernard:I made a small comparison between lens : 4/3 : zoom 12-60 f/2.8-3.5  (HG lens, not SHG) micro-4/3 : 17mm, 45mm. Plus, pictures from the 50-200 Zoom + EC-20 : gives a 400mm (800 mm equiv 24×36). http://mailhol.com/photo/compar-43
