Panasonic Light Field sensor Patent No. 20140078259. Light Field forum coloured the most important elements.

LIke you know Lytro created quite some buzz with their recent Lytro Illum Light Field Digital Camera (specs here on BHphoto). And we now from patents that Panasonic is working on such a Light Field Camera too (see patent on top for example).

In a new Interview at Thenextweb Lytro’s CEO Jason Rosenthal said that Light Field Cameras will eventually replace current system camera tech. If he is correct we really have to change our way of thinking and habits. It will be a huge change!

The resolution chart of the Tamron 14-150mm lens.

The newest Micro Four Thirds lens is the Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5,8 zoom lens. And the first site reviewing the lens is the spanish DSLR magazine (google translation here). These are their findigs:

– resolution is high in the center but just average in the corner.
– chromatic aberrations are very low in the center but visible in the corner.
– Vignetting and Distortion are well controlled.

The lens doesn’t deliver a top quality results but the performance is well-balanced and if you consider the price it’s actually a very good lens for the money.

Olympus patent proves they know how to get rid of the rolling shutter issue by using a global shutter

Olympus claims to have the tech to definitely solve the rolling shutter issue forever. The simple “trick” is to use a global shutter system that reads out all pixels at the same time. That’s at least what they claim in their latest patent spotted by Egami.

Hope Olympus will use that on their new High End OMD!

For those looking for a superzoom camera that excels at both photo and video quality, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 delivers. While it doesn’t have a constant maximum aperture of its biggest competitor – the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 – the FZ1000’s F2.8-4 lens covers a much greater 25-400mm equivalent range. The FZ1000 has an advantage over ILCs, as any lens you add to one of those cameras will be larger, heavier and pricier.

The camera gets a Gold Award with a very high overall score of 82%.
