Lee:Hi, the C-Mount on M4/3 Facebook group has produced some exclusive branded T-Shirts for BMPCC owner who just love their C-Mount lenses. Lee Mullen, C-Mount on M4/3 Facebook admin said “We came up with this idea based upon the most frequent question when somebody wants to try a C-Mount lens on their camera; “Does it cover the BMPCC?”, so myself and fellow member Ron Stratton came up with the idea and design to produce a stunning and humorous slogan for the t shirt’s logo – ‘Does it Cover?’ with an image of the Pocket Camera sat in the middle of a vignette complete with dramatic clouds. T shirts and soon coming other merchandise can be purchased directly from our CafePress store: http://www.cafepress.com.au/mf/92683355/c-mount-on-m43_tshirt?productId=1377411864. We are also looking at ‘C-Mount on M4/3’ lens bands to help people to focus with any awkward TV lens”.

Two LX100 tidbits you likely didn’t know (in lens shutter and flash sync). Gets “Essential” mark at PB.

LX100

Panasonic displayed the LX100 at the Ceatec show in Japan (Source: DC.watch). And by the way, many of you may have missed to learn about two interesting features of the LX100:

1) LX100 has a lens-shutter, not a focal plain shutter. So flash-sync for all over the shutter speed (within the mechanical shutter range)
2) LX100 can do wireless flash, according to menu and draft manual that is equipped at Panasonic Center Tokyo.

Thanks M.O. for sharing this info!

There are also new LX100 reviews:

1) Full review at Photographyblog. The camera earned the “Essential” mark:

The LX100 raises the bar considerably and leaps right to the top of the burgeoning premium compact market, even making a strong case as a serious alternative to CSC and DSLR models if it suits your outlook on the world. Sony may have had things mostly to themselves with the RX-series in recent times, but Panasonic have definitely shook things up with the exciting new Lumix DMC-LX100.

2) ISO test at Focus Numerique.

First review of the new Panasonic 35-100mm f/4.0-5.6 lens

CameraStuffReview posted the first test of the brand new Panasonic 35-100mm f/4.0-5.6 lens:

In terms of construction and image quality, the Panasonic 35-100 mm gives nothing up to other inexpensive, but larger, micro-43 telephoto zooms (45-150 mm, 45-175 mm) that we have reviewed previously. The metal construction of the Panasonic 35-100mm f/4 is more luxury and might even be better. The even sharpness, the beautiful background blur (“bokeh”) at the longest focal distance and the low sensitivity to flare and ghosts surprised us in a positive way. The Panasonic 35-100 mm f/4 guarantees beautiful vacation photos, without neck pains.

Quite cool Panasonic patent discloses a variable focal length optical viewfinder! Attacks last DSLR “advantage”.

Share

Bildschirmfoto 2014-10-08 um 16.34.47

One of the remaining BIG advantages of DSLR camera over Mirrorless cameras is that you can frame your images through an optical viewfinder. It’s simply more “connecting” than watching through an electronic viewfinder. Well, it looks like Panasonic will soon eliminate that last DSLR advantage!

The image on top is quite complex but the idea behind it is simple: Panasonic patented an optical viewfinder which actually changes focal length in sync with any Micro Four Thirds lens! For example the optical viewfinder shows an 20mm focal length when you sue it along the 20mm pancake or 42,5mm focal length when you use the Leica Nocticron. And it obvisouly would also sync with any zoom lens too! It would become the first universal useable and variable optical viewfinder for any current digital mirrorless system. And it basically woudl do a similar job of an Optical viewfinder you usually have on a DSLR:

optical_viewfinder

Like you see th optical viewfinder zooms into the subject just like a real zoom lens. The official technical presentation from Panasonic says:

An optical viewfinder is configured to be attached to a camera body with an interchangeable lens. The optical viewfinder includes: a Keplerian viewfinder optical system 301 including a scalable objective lens group 330; a stepping motor 305 configured to drive the objective lens group 330 along an optical axis; and a control circuit configured to control driving of the stepping motor 305 based on a result of detection by a PI 306. When a variable focal length lens (an interchangeable lens) is attached to a camera body, the control circuit controls driving of the stepping motor 305 in accordance with a focal length of the variable focal length lens and displays at least a photographing frame on an EVF panel 307.

I love that!

Would you find such an optical viewfinder (external or built-in) useful?
