Leica CEO says no MFT camera from Leica

Share

leica_gm1_clone

Leica GM1 clone design by Seung-hun Han via Dicahub. Yep…just change the logo and charge $500 extra

Leica CEO Alfred Schopf said that Leica won’t be building on Panasonic’s Micro Four Thirds format (Source: Leica Camera Forum). That said it’s 100% sure they will launch a new mirrorless system in collaboration with Panasonic (Panasonic will build the cameras).

To be honest, I still don’t believe Alfred is telling us the truth here…

New Panasonic GM1 reviews (Digitalversus and 1001tema).

Free Handgrip promotion in UK (More info at Promotions.panasonic.co.uk)

Digitalversus (Click here) writes:

The Panasonic Lumix GM1 is small, light, stylish, pleasant to use and takes top-quality pictures. What’s not to like? This interchangeable lens camera packs a good range of features and quality tech specs into a cute little camera that’s perfectly portable. A few concessions have been made here and there, but that doesn’t stop the GM1 being one of the nicest little cameras to pass out of our test lab in the run up to Christmas 2013.

The Russian site 1001tema (translation here). Athaugh the google translation tool is making quite a mess it’s worth to check the site for the great pics they posted!

Test images have been posted at Optyczne.

GM1 preorder list:
In US at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto.
In Europe at Amazon Germany, Wex Germany, Amazon UK, Fotohanskeuzekamp, Cyberphoto Sweden and Wex UK.

Also the Leica 45mm f/2.8 lens has been designed by Konica-Minolta?

Share

Egami spotted that Konica Minolta patent. So it’s not Leica, but Konica that likely designed the Elmarit 45mm f/2.8 MFT lens? Wondering what kind of role had Leica on that lens development…or are they only selling the Leica logo?

Note: There are differences in the design between that Konica patent and the real Leica lens. That said it is not unusual for a patent to show different kind of design variations. So we astill don’t know if it’s Konica or not that designed the Leica 45mm lens.
