We got our hands on the full Panasonic press release od the AG-DVX200 4K large-sensor, 4/3” handheld camcorder and the GH4 firmware update. Images will follow soon here on 43rumors. In the meantime read the full press text:

At a press conference today at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention, Panasonic announced a range of new 4K production products, including the AG-DVX200 4K large-sensor, 4/3” handheld camcorder; AK-UB300 4K multi-purpose camera, and the AK-UC3000 4K-ready studio system.

AG-DVX200 4K Large-Sensor Handheld Camcorder Features Top-End Performance

Offering many top-end features such 4K/60p recording, a 13X optical zoom and a V-Log L gamma curve (12 stops of latitude, target) and delivering a shallow depth of field and a wide field of view, the DVX200 is the ideal companion camera to the company’s groundbreaking VariCam 35 4K camera/recorder.

The DVX200 will be optimized for 4K/HD production and shares the esteemed VariCam family characteristics of filmic tonality and colorimetry, with natural, subtle rendering of skin flesh tones. It will offer a V-Log curve emulating the natural grey-scale rendition of the VariCam 35. The camcorder will be available in Fall 2015 with a suggested list price under $5000.

At NAB, it was announced that the award winning LUMIX GH4 will have firmware update (Ver.2.2) available later this month, enabling recording anamorphic video content. Unlike complex digital post processing needed to achieve the classic Hollywood look, many effects that have became so popular with anamorphic film capture can now be achieved optically in the LUMIX GH4.

NABpress

At 10.00 am Las Vegas time Panasonic will announce a so called “game changing” new 4K camcorder. And we know just learned that indeed this is a Four Thirds sensor camcorder! It’s actually a complete new camera that will replace the current AGAF100 series.

It will be very interesting to see what kind of new sensor Panasonic has developed. Some of the new camcorders features may will find it’s way in a future GH5 camera!

UPDATE: Veydra confirmed there is a new 4K MFT cam. They reported to Newsshooter:

For NAB 2015 Ryan Avery from Veydra has some exciting new announcements. The first is the dedicated 2x anamorphic prime cine lens for M4/3 mount. Made specifically for the GH4 and another camera that Panasonic will be unveiling tomorrow.

P.S.: Thanks David from http://ironfilm.co.nz/ for spotting this!

(FT4) What’s likely to come from Panasonic today (GH4 firmware upgrade and new 4K cam).

.

A long time trusted source sent me this very short line:

Tomorrow at NAB show possible Panasonic will have firmware update for the GH4 with LOG and possible Raw. And new 4K camera as well.

Panasonic itself says about the new camera:

Do you remember [shoplink 52587 ebay]AG-DVX100[/shoplink]? As a DV camera capable of film-like shooting with Cine-like gamma and a 24p mode, a groundbreaking camera in the industry. I am proud to say that it was a big hit for us, and it has been widely used and loved by customers around the world for over ten years.

Now, in a world where 4K shooting is fast becoming the norm, we’ve decided to go for a new breakthrough, and try to create another disruption in the industry and hit like the DVX100. I hope you’ll come to the Panasonic booth at NAB and see what we have in mind.

UPDATE: That new 4K camera is almost certainly a new 4K MFT mount camera!!!

P.S.: That’s when we will have the announcements today (Las Vegas time).
