Summer hoax: Rumors about a GH4 8K hack coming in July.

Share

The rumored 8K video posted on Youtube which is likely to be fake.

Cinescopophilia reports about a new GH4 firmware hack that is supposed to be released in July. It’s supposed to allow 8k recording(!) on the Panasonic GH4.

Well, I am sure this is just a story made up by some guy. We will not get 8K on the GH4 :(

E_M10II

Surprise! The 16 months old E-M10 is going to be replaced very soon! The new E-M10II has been already registered at the Indonesian agency Postel. Usually this means the camera will be announced within weeks or 1-2 months at max!

This means there is really no rumor pause this summer because also Panasonic has an announcement this month!

Erik:I’m a filmmaker from Seattle whose work you’ve featured on your blog a couple times. I’ve just finished post production on an experimental multiple exposure video/photo project using the Panasonic GH4’s 4K photo mode. I’m very pleased with the results and I loved the easy streamlined nature of using the 4K photo mode to create high quality video and stills simultaneously. Panasonic aims to launch new 8K cameras by 2020.

The Japanese website Nikkan got word from Panasonic that their goal is to launch 8K capable cameras by 2020. First prototypes will be unveiled and tested in 2018. Sounds like not the GH5 but the GH6 will be the first 8K camera. Photographers can benefit from 8K recording too because every single frame has a huge 33 Megapixel resolution! You basically just shoot video and then extract the perfect picture from the movie. This could change the entire mindset of how we were used to take photos!
